During the last couple days I toured the USS Lexington, shelled about 10 pounds of pecans, and ate leftovers at Bills house. Our conversations covered all sorts of topics and not once did we have one of those awkward silent moments.

The day we toured the Lexington fewer than 100 others had chosen to do the same. That gave us run of the ship. We could read all the info plaques, take pictures that were not obstructed by people, or just stand and talk as long as we wished without getting in someone's way. Even if you were not in the Navy, you'll find this tour worth your while.

The weather here was not very good. We were here 7 days and never saw clear blue skis. Only twice, the day's high temp exceeded 60. Tomorrow night's low is 34 and Friday is not looking much better.

Today our Navy reunion came to an end. We packed up Gracie and headed north 160 miles to San Antonio.

I must say it was easy to navigate Corpus Christi freeways. The traffic was light and following route 37 north was a piece of cake. The road was well maintained and had very few curves. There is little to say about the scenery as it was not impressive. After a few miles of scrub brush and oak trees your interest fades fast.

Although we drove through light rain and mist most of the way, when we arrived at Travelers Resort, it looked like we had been four wheeling in a mud swamp. Where did all this dirt come from? We could not see out the side windows of the Burb.

Before we could do a bit of shopping, we headed straight for a car wash. Gracie will also need a bath this week.
