We left San Antonio TX Monday. Our original plan was to stay there for a couple weeks and then slowly head for Branson MO. However, it was cold in Texas, and Branson doesn't really get going until late April. So plan B was put in motion. Return to Florida get warm, do some beach time, and stay there until warmer weather sets in on the east coast.

Yesterday we drove from San Antonio to Lake Charles LA. Once we began to see all the Isle of Capri casino bill boards, I got the great idea of pulling in, having a buffet supper and playing the slots a bit.

That didn't quite work out. After driving all day in the rain we were tired and Ruth's hand was stuck to the grab bar next to her seat. We decided on meatloaf sandwiches and an early turn in. About 20 minutes later we both got up. Trucks bouncing across the bridge next to the parking lot, train whistles, and overhead lights that were suitable for a night game at Fenway, did not make sleeping easy. Ruth gave it another go at midnight and I spent the night in the recliner taking cat naps between train whistles. At 5 AM they were going off every 10 minutes. At 6 AM I gave up.

After a shower and 2 cups of coffee we were on the road again. Yep, still pouring.

Today's 390 miles went pretty good (rain all the way)except for the one hour traffic jam. The start of it was a very exciting. I spotted a cop car on the side of the road some distance ahead. Being a good driver I moved to the left and maintained speed. Seconds later, nothing but brake lights. If any of you think you can get by without a brake device on your toad, try a panic stop and discover the difference between being pushed by you toad and it helping you stop. Saved my bacon, but maybe not my shorts.

After 10 hours of pouring rain most of the time, yea we made a couple stops along the way, we pulled into a rest area just before Pensacola about 5 pm. 75 degrees and overcast but not raining!
