Neal Wesley Harris Jr, Sp 5 (I grew up in the military & attended Kemper Military School) U.S. Army, 3 years Active Duty, 1966-1969 Training: Combat Medic 91A10, Neuropsychiatry 91F20 Ward Master for 2 Psychiatric Wards at Ft. Ord, CA Hospital Father Neal Wesley Harris, Colonel U.S. Army, 36 years, 1937-1973 Artillery Officer WWII served under General Patton in North Africa & Sicily, General Mark Clark on the mainland of Italy, as liaison officer with Free French troops, field artillery liaison officer and unit commander. During the Korean War he was Battalion Commander for the Fourth Training Battalion at Camp Polk, LA then in Korea he commanded the 145th Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion, was executive officer of the 158th Field Artillery Battalion and later commander of the 171st Field Artillery Battalion. After Korea he was assigned to ROTC duty at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. In Heidelberg Germany at the Headquarters of US Army Europe he was on the command staff of G-3 Operations. At Ft. Totten NY was G-3 operations officer and deputy G-3 Chief of Reserve Affairs - 1st Region Air Defense Command. At Ft. Richardson Alaska he was director of plans and training, director of personnel and Post Commander. Back in Norman, OK he commanded the Oklahoma Sector of US Army Reserve XIX Corps. In Tehran, Iran he was Chief of Staff US Army Mission and Chief of a field team with the 2nd Iranian Army and at Ft Sill, Oklahoma was Deputy Chief of Staff for the US Army Field Artillery Center where he retired. Grandfather Edgar Lee Harris, Corporal 1911-1915 U.S. Marine Corps, Company Clerk, Phillipines & China Great Grandfather Joseph Wesley Harris b.1857, d. 1923 did not serve in the military Great, Great Grandfather, James Wesley Harris, First Sergeant 1862-1865 Confederate Army, Company C (Fannin Farmers) of the First Georgia Partisan Rangers, Smith’s Legion and later was in Company E,11th Regiment (11th Georgia Infantry) which surrendered 16 officers and 176 enlisted at Appomattox Court House April 9 1865 Great, Great, Great Grandfather Abel Harris 1814 American Soldier during War of 1812, served under Capt. K. McKinsey, Captain George Lee Davison, Col Jesse A. Pearson, & General Joseph Graham Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather Isham Harris 1780-1781 American Soldier during Revolutionary War, served under General Stevans, General Gates & General Washington
