  1. Increased toe-in also helps tracking but semi trucks like to run low toe for longer tire life so there is a tendency of alignment shops to go low on the setting.

Every coach is different but I found running rear tire pressures at max rather than what the weight tables suggested helped cross wind performance. Increasing front above the table values also helps but sure screws up the ride.

  2. Been there with a Diesel powered boat. It is called "filtration soiling" , the deposit of dirt on fabrics around "sealed" openings and deposits on other surfaces. Often caused by the station wagon effect drawing dirty air into the vehicle. On my boat it was engine room air and exhaust smoke being drawn thru an engine room access panel into a stateroom. The boat engines were high boost turbo diesels so there was some smoke during light load until warm and then smoke during slow down because the raw water intercoolers cooled the intake air too much.

Tough to fix but Brett's advice about controlling cabin air pressure is the solution.

  3. I have Meritor axles and air disc brakes, Clay based is recommended for the slack adjusters and calipers. My last lube job was at a truck stop in Phoenix and I expressly instructed them to use clay based grease for the brakes, they didn't and within 50 miles after a six month storage the rear brakes started dragging. $1500 repair for rotors, pads, and cleaning out the old grease on both axles.

  4. I sometimes run two ACs on 30amp but I switch or turn off all other loads; refer on gas, batt charger off, no microwave, no Hot water, etc. And then it sometimes doesn't work because of CG weak breakers or low voltage.

On my Winnie the rear AC would draw power from the genny, I added plugs/receptacles so I could run a separate power cable to the rear AC.

  5. I just had that repair done on my Beaver in Bend OR. Three places that I know that can do body repairs and/or repair clear coat:

    Guaranty, Junction City OR

Beaver Coach Sales & Service, Bend, OR (a Monaco Service Center)

    Bend RV Repair, Bend, OR

  6. Either last month or the month before, a bill was passed by congress exempting rv motorhomes from the 20,000lb axle limits. We are now now permitted to run 24,000lbs the same as passenger buses. There was a posting on the IRV2 forum about this. I would imagine that an internet search would also show now if one was inclined to look for it. It was part of an obscure Transportation Dept legislation.

    Good luck and safe travels!

Really, Congress found time for that with all of the other IMO more important things to do? Of course I'm not surprised. :D

A 20k axle law was created by Congress a long time ago to stop the Missisippi valley states from impeding interstate commerce via retrictive axle limits. The law states the lowest max rear axle limit is 20k for roads that are part of the National Network. The Network is the Interstate/US highways and one mile from interchanges. Other states have had larger axle limits for years and higher rated axles and tires have been available for decades.

There are design standards for bridges that use axle load and spacing and that can create some funny looking axle spacings for heavy loads.
