Just joined.  I have been an RVer since 2004.  I have had 2 trailers and 2 Class Cs one of which I have now.  My wife and I enjoyed the RV very much.  Sadly she was stricken with spinal cancer which robbed her of her mobility for 2.5 years and finally took her life last November.  We discussed what my plans would be after her passing and she gave me some advice and her blessing.  I sold our house, rented a small apartment and bought a very nice, brand new, Entegra Esteem Class C last month.  I have been on 1 trip to the ocean which was our favorite place to go.  That trip was haunted with memories, some sad but many happy.  I am leaving today for a 3 day trip to meet with each of my 2 daughters in 2 different campgrounds on the Olympic Peninsula.  My apartment is East of Seattle in Microsoftland.

My plan is to "Mostly Time" travelling for weeks or months at a time but touching home every so often to see the kids and hug the grandkids.  I purchased my Toad yesterday.  On Saturday I am having the Dish Satellite installed on my RV.  Then I have to figure out a towing system for my Toad.  Once that is done, I am free to hit the road.

I have some serious heart issues myself but my cardiologist said I am free to go as long as I check in with him every 6 months or so.  My wife was the very cautious type over our long time (45 years) together.  When she became ill her attitude changed.  She advocated to me and her caregivers "Not to wait".  I plan to get as much as I can out of the time I have left here.  As for my posting style, I will post when I feel I have something to add but never post just too see my post count move. I travel with my newly adopted rescue dog, Hope, who is a Beagle/miniature Dachshund mix.  She is the sweetest pup you'd ever meet! See you down the road!

Good luck and have a great time and enjoy you new rv that's very exciting .  Mike

  2. I think replacing the front without replacing the backs is fine obviously if the rear tires still have another year in them.  My understanding is you should replace all tires if you drive an AWD vehicle it messes with the transfer switch.  This is not the case so you should be good.

  3. I use to have a tripod and a compass and 100 of coaxial would set the coordinates on the saterlite level the tripod  ( very important ) use the compas point it the direction of the stated coordinates, oh I forgot you have a 100 feet to find a clearing for the sate

I use Directv and just acquire  a satellite signal wherever I go. The local channels as stated by dd69 don't work too far away from home for me either, but that isn't a problem for me anyway. I have a DVR on my receiver and while at home I record many things that I might like to watch later, and watch those when I am too lazy to acquire a signal on the dish, this is many times as we are inclined to just stay overnight while in transit from home to a far off destination. Dish still offers a pay as you go plan and will send local signals to almost anywhere, just not your home channels because of contracts with local stations.

I am looking for a camper with a Class C that uses a Trav'ler  Winegard Sat Antenna.

First problem is finding a open space 44"by 34" area.

    My Class C is a Winnebago Cambria 2014 30J.

Just not to sure of clearance and trees  above the roof at almost 3 feet.

So if you run this setup on a Class C I need some advice.

    Thanks for reading

  5. Thank you so are all the saterlite companies doing this because there are some places I go dry camping where I can get no signal except saterlite it seems you spend the money for saterlite system whether directv or dish for your traveling rv and they limit it like that.  Thank you for your responce very appreciated.

  6. Ok thanks for helping I have a 2003 HR Ambassador which came with a tracvision satellite system no receiver I have directv at home that I have had for over 20 years in the past I had a direct receiver listed in my directv profile as travel, so I only used it when I traveled and.  And it worked fine until i started going further from my home.

I live in NH so when i was in Florida for example the receiver would pickup the new England channels but no signal on those channels in the past i would call directv they would send a signal to my receiver and i would get channels in the area i was in.

Well since at&t took over they don't do that anymore they want me to open. Another account in Florida for $70 a month then if I go to New Mexico same thing I must be doing something wrong can you help me and tell me what to do.  I use to pay $5.00 a month for the travel receiver that looks like that deal is over please give me your thought my tracvision works with directv or dish. Thank you
