  1. We live in MA just outside of Cape Cod. Can't go any more East without hitting water! :)

As far as what we like we are very different in our tastes so we enjoy many things. We have spent time at quilting museums ( DW loves them, although I truly admire the attention to detail ) to anything history related ( My cup of tea!).

Both enjoy touring vineyards and wine tasting! Most Museums are also appreciated by both as well as nature trails.

  2. So we are planning a 7-8 week trip this summer to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Some thoughts for our trip are:

    1. The Finger Lakes of NY

    2. Wern part of Ohio

    3. Madison, WI. We are attending the national convention.

    4. Mall of America

    5. Mt Rushmore and the Bad Lands

Any suggestions for campgrounds or things to see please post. We are open and the only thing definite is the national convention.

Looking forward to all of your comments.

  3. I have a TST system and love it. Even if your car has one, you will not know if you have a flat if you are towing. The weight of the toad is so small compared to the rig by the time you know it damage is done. Also tires on a motorhome don't get flats they get blow outs. Once the presure is too low that the tire can't handle it .... bang! Get a system it is good piece of mind.

  4. +2 You are not nuts!

It takes a certain personality to enjoy this lifestyle. The DW has one more year till retiremant and I have 4 , but since we are both teachers we hit the road every summer fora 6-7 week roadtrip . LOVE IT and only wish I had started doing it earlier! Many happy miles and smiles to you.

  5. Herman, everybody wants something for nothing. OK, maybe that is not entirely true but some people are always looking for a free ride. I have enjoyed my membership to FMCA and after attending my first rally last year we had a blast. The DW and I ran the coffee/ donut breakfast piece and helped with the pancake breakfast and the hot dog social. . With the friends that we brought with us and the new ones we met it was great!

A membership is a lot like pumping out your home septic system..... WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT IS ENTIRELY DEPENDENT ON WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT!!!!!

Hope everyone is ready for a great camping season. It's been a tough winter in the North East. Between the Blizzard and Hurricane Sandy we lost a lot of trees. Looking forward to some nice warm weather.

  6. I agree I hope the 2014 rally will be a go. The 2012 rally was the first for Donna and myself. We had a blast. We volunteered and ran the coffee/donut in the mornings and help with other events ( hot dogs, the hot breakfast ) but we meet some great people who made the whole event a super experience for us and our camping group. Hope to do it again.

  7. I have heard that Freightliner will be having a recall on their Fred ( Front End Diesel ) models for the brake issue that was very similar to the Workhorse problem.

This was discussed on the Tiffin RV network recently. You can log on and see if this might apply to your rig as well.

No recall as yet. Perhaps trying to determine the extent of the problem .

Changing brake fluid sounds like a plan.

  8. Skip, If when you'll are gone and there is any of your money left for the children you did it wrong. :D:lol::D

I'm with Herman on this one.

We provide for our kids and grandkids our whole working life. Come retirement time make sure you provide for yourself too. My kids and grandkids know that I love them and take them camping with us still.

As the DW and I approach retirement we won't deprive ourselves of the things that we enjoy. I promise my kids one thing when I'm gone... NO BILLS. Anything else is gravy and they agree. The best license plate I saw on a rig/toad combo was SKI 1 and SKI 2 ( Spending Kids Inheritance ).

So take the dog and enjoy. We'll be attending our first FMCA rally next week in Vermont.

Looking forward to meeting new friends.

  9. I agree... we are all campers and that is the most important thing. I have no issue with not allowing a motorhome that is in major disrepair. You running a resort not a junk yard. That being said I've seen some great looking older motorhomes. As long as it is safe, good repair, and not a major eye sore I don't care who is parked next to me. I've had some families in tents that the kids wanted to see what the inside looked like. It wasn't that many years ago that it was my kids in a tent looking at some nice class A parked next to us. Time has flowed by and although we might have a Class A now, the kids have their own families and they are in tents. Just the way mom and dad started. So invite them in for a tour, pour some lemonade and let them look around.

  10. Agree with Brett. The stove is the one to deal with first, and you can tell when you have good gas coming through. You also don't have to worry about it cycling off and on like you do with the water heater and frig. It may take a little while but you can save alot of time by starting with the range.
