Yes I have to leave the key in ACC. I will turn everything OFF for the first trip (1 day), and see if I need the remote disconnect. I wasn't sure about losing all the settings.

This was in the 2nd edition, that came with the Jeep. I agree the downloaded one from the web page does not have that step.

I just purchased a 2011 Grand Cherokee Jeep. the last item in the book says to disconnect the NEG battery cable. Is this a necessary step?

Thanks to ALL that responded. I did a test drive this AM, following the 7th edition of the manual. Taking the FoB out, I had no problems. My unit does not have a steering wheel lock, so don't have leave the FoB in.
