Any Experience With1994 HR 34 Diesel? Worth A 2nd Look?
parsoc replied to parsoc's topic in Buying an RV
Thank you for your reply. It's a Cummins engine, Allison tranny, Can't remember size. All manuals and service records are available. Yes, we plan on getting it inspected. This is all a little daunting, I have to admit. We've had limited RV experience, 18 day trip CA to GA in a friend's Winnebago Brave in 2004.We got the bug for the RV life then! This site and one other have been excellent in terms of advice, experience, etc. So we march on! We're headed to an RV show in OR tomorrow, that may further confuse us or give us some clarity, who knows! Thanks again for the reply Yes I will post pictures if/when we see it again. -
We have a chance to buy a 1994 HR diesel, 34Ft, 47Kmi, asking $16K. The sellers, whom we know, are the 2nd owner. He was a truck driver and has taken care of all the maintenance, as did the previous owner (as far as we can tell). It looks to be in very good condition and we were impressed with the condition of the original cabinets. It will take some modification to make it livable for us, and we know it needs an inspection, etc. We had turned it down initially due to timing (not having retirement funds yet and no financing for a coach that age), but now they are offering owner financing and that part would be very doable. I am interested in advice/opinions of anyone who has had experience with this particular coach, or if there are any glaring problems we need to be aware of. I checked NADA and got information that HR didn't start making these until 1995 or so, but theres a big HR insignia on the coach, so not sure what that was all about. Thanking you in advance!

We're still researching MH's but have only actually gone to one dealer (La Mesa RV, in Davis) who also happened to have a big show at Cal Expo a few weeks ago. They have LOTS of Coachman Mirada's, 2014's (one 2013) in $69K range...our upper limit is $70 due to the down payment required. We like the floor plan and the easy care interior (vinyl flooring and leatherette upholstery) Salespeople touting this as an excellent price on a NEW, entry level MH. We also keep coming back to Winnebago...that was our only MH driving experience, 10 yrs. ago. The Vista 30T is out of our price range unless we can find an older one, or heavily discounted. The Vista 31KE (not sure if the letters are right) is in our price range We also looked at an Itasca Sunova 26P (2008) that was very intriguing BUT it had no table or dinette, just couch. I know on the smaller ones you have to give up something, but we decided overall it was a little too small and we needed both couch and table. Any ideas on either of these? Is Winnebago quality that much better? I like the idea they make everything on the inside and they can replace stuff many years later....but as DH says, the first thing to go wrong will probably NOT be a cupboard door! Also, we are not interested in NEW....I'd like someone else to have taken the hit on depreciation and getting all the repair issues worked out that first year. To answer anticipated questions, we will not be FT, there will only be the two of us, cannot buy anything until June (due to retirement funds not being available until then), DH thinks we'll be MHing only 5 yrs (I know, that may change, in either direction!), gas, probably towing our Honda CRV This forum has been so helpful, thank you all for any input you might have.

The show was put on by LaMesa RV...they have dealerships in Davis and San Diego, CA, AZ, and I think NV LOTS of Coachman, Fleetwood, Winnebago (lots of trailers too). We got a good look at 2 2014 Vista's....31KE and 30T. Really liked the floorplan of the 30T...we've given up on anything shorter, that was for my comfort in driving it but I also don't want to give up the room and amenities. So, it's on to do more research!

This may have been on another forum, sorry I can't remember....but there was mention of a directory that GS puts out of all sorts of information as you travel in different states: speed laws, and maybe firearm regulations? Anybody out there remember or know about this? My BIL showed us a handbook on just firearms through all the states but thought there might be a combo-book out there. Happy New Year to all of you out there!

Our first show since we've started serious research on what we want. Came across it by accident and we're already in the area and it's on the way home!

Need Ideas For Must Places To See-- Coast of CA Up To WA
parsoc replied to mot4home's question in Destinations/Attractions
Great thread! This will be our first trip if/when we actually buy our MH as planned next year! We've always loved the OR coast....all those places already mentioned with the addition of Yachats and Newport. Their state parks are numerous and the coastline is very user-friendly. -
Thanks all, good info crankyape.com interesting site

A search for this topic resulted in no hits, so I assume there is a reason for that?! Obviously these would have to be approached with even more care and caution, but was wondering if anyone had any experience with doing this or researching this as an option.
