Thank you Mark and Lisa V,  I began faking I was a mechanic nearly 50 years.  After 30 years working at the government they pension me off so maybe I got away with it.  Guess I learned one trick.

Ray, I am the one faking the mechanic gig (and not very successfully I might add...) Thanks again for the assist!!!

  2. I just replaced my old 255x70x22.5 (6 total) with new Michelin XZE's  on my Freightliner XC chassis.  Is it best practice to get an alignment for the new tires?  There were no issues with the tires that came off - just old Chinese rubber.

    Thanks!

Not to hijack this thread, but can someone explain to me what the real not perceived benefit of these "cool jack pads" would be?

I park the majority of the time on concrete at my house.  Get rust stains from level pads - these help.

  4. I have a Lippert LCI automatic leveling system installed on my rig.  A few weeks ago I bought these cool 'snap pads' for the landing gear.  The landing gear are standard Lippert 9 inch steel pads, but one is 11 inch ( must have been replaced by previous owner).  Not a problem, ordered a new 9 inch pad to replace it.  My question is, how do you get the installed one off?  I put a breaker bar on it and the hydraulic shaft just spins...  I looked around for a lock -  stick in a screw driver or something to hold it but did not see one.  Greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

  5. Went to turn on my frig and noticed it kept jumping to LP even though I was plugged in to shore power.  Hmmm.  Opened up the side and saw a blown fuse on the circuit board.

Easy enough, popped in another Bussman 5 amp and turned it back on.  Boom... another fuse.  After some Googling it sounded like my AC heating element was bad or had a short.  Replaced the element and seems to be working fine now.

My question is how often does the AC element go bad or how easy is it for them to get a short and burn up?

Just wondering if I should get another one and have it on hand in case...

All it takes to have the nice smell is scuff the surface a bit and it will continue...i know  a bit dusty and you have to remove the contents...been there done that. Make the closet tighter.  By the way looks great!

planking was very thin. About 1/4 inch, so not much impact on making it tighter.  You're right though. much thicker I probably would not have done it.

I've had the Tire Minder system for two years and have had no problems.   I purchased the TM77 system (which came with six transmitters), the Rhino signal booster and four additional transmitters.  Total cost was ~$700.  I asked for nothing but money from the wife and kids for Christmas two years ago to cover most of the cost.

+1 on Tire Minder.  Worth every penny.

  8. Hoping somebody out there can point me in the right direction... On a recent trip, we hit some heavy rain - no problem, wipers on and powered through... Near the end of the storm I noticed the wiper alignment was off, way off.  When I got home, I popped of the nuts on the wiper arms (pantograph) and sure enough, the teeth on the pivot arms where as smooth as a baby's bottom. Again, not a problem, I removed the pivot arms in about 10 minutes.  the problem is trying to locate replacements.  The only number on the arm is 69203.  I have included a picture of the removed assembly.  Any help appreciated.

    thanks!

  9. We are heading out next week for 500+ miler... I read a lot on RV forums about folks driving for 100's / 1000's of miles with a warning indicator light on??  I guess it depends on the indicator, but seems risky to me - especially if you are not sure what code(s) are being thrown.  Just want to be safe and not blow up the coach..

  10. Started out on a weekend trip only to get about 1/2 from our house and the check engine warning light came on.  Circled back home to investigate before hitting the interstate.  The engine diagnostics was throwing a single code - SPN 2791 FMI 13 OC 42.  After a bit of googling, it appears to be an EGR calibration alert?  Called the dealer I bought the coach from and they said it was just an emission alert, ok to drive it.  That didn't feel right, so I made an appointment with a local freightliner / cummins shop.  Is the dealer correct?

    Thanks!
