2012 Holiday Rambler With Surround Sound Home Theatre DVD?
boyle908 replied to greybeard101's topic in Type A motorhomes
2009 Neptune 35SBD Surround only works when using the DVD/CD player, I have not rtried the tuner portion. The radio they installed sounds like it came from 1950 it has that tinny sound that is irritiating even when playing CD'S. I could send a few buck and get something decent but I dont use it much and I would need to upgrade the antenna which also sucks Michael Sorry about the spelling DW is harassing me. AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!! -
I had a similar issue and it took me 6 months to find it. Intermittent error code that would reset and show up again for no reason. The cause was the the left & right wheels were cross wired and on slight turns as well as normal turns it would register an error. FJM trucking (Cummins authorized and chassis work) in San Jose found it in less 1 hour. Michael Boyle

My final resolution did not post for some reason. I took the unit to FJM trucking in San Jose and within 2-3hrs they found the issue. The primary fuel filter was the issue. On my 09 Neptune/RoadmasterRR4R/Cummins340/Allison 2500 it was located in the hydraulic leveler pump compartment. On the opposite side of the engine to the secondary fuel filter, I had assumed that is was a filter for the hydraulic system (silly assumption) My only excuse is that it had hydraulic lines all around it and even today it looks like part of the HYD system. They replaced the filter and all is well. Michael Boyle

Since I first asked the question I have had the ride kit installed and I must say that I am happy with it. I now have the complete package, trailing arms, air bags & ping tank and shocks. It is a real big improvement and it was definitely worth the cost. I also have the Source fan installed and the power is significantly improved and much more continuous & smooth. Both the ride kit and fan have done what Source said they would do and the combined improvement is really effective. I also have steer safe and I am happy with it. Looking forward to some serious comfortable miles this year despite fuel costs. Happy driving to all Michael Boyle RR4R really improved!

I agree with you about their comments. I am concerned about finding someone locally (San Jose area)who can actually & intelligently diagnose and repair. I have been researching and have some thought as to what it could be, Change solenoid, the inhibitor/limiter device that stops it from doing damage to itself or possibly engine fuel filter/s although I did not notice any sluggishness on the engine but it seems feasible. The transmission should not move @ all if there is something wrong according to the what I have read the controller should stop it from moving. Forgot to add that it could be a throttle position sensor issue Still working on it! Thanks for your help Michael Boyle

Finally got to check it out. It happens regardless of switch position.

Yes, although I have yet to drive and verify.

09 Neptune 35SBD RR4R chassis, Allison 2500MH, Cummins ISB340 11K miles My transmission was stuttering and bogging down on acceleration. This was intermittent and did not seem to have a discernible pattern or set of conditions that caused it. I had it checked and was informed that with the engine braking switch turned on, it was causing the tranny to perform as described above. This was under low gear (1st & 2nd) acceleration only. I have not found anywhere in the transmission/owners manual any documentation that implies or corroborates this happening. The coach is currently in for an REK install and I have not had a chance to verify this yet (no issues with the switch in the "off" position). Has anyone experienced this situation or do you have any information on it? Michael B

Thanks again and thanks for taking the time to find it! Mike

Has anyone had the ride enhancement kit installed on their RR4R chassis? How good was the improvement? I have the Bilsteins installed already, the trailing arms replaced with Monaco/Navistar certified heavy duty and all that remains is the air bags & ping tank. I am trying to determine if the additional expense is worth it? Source Engineering has a video @ rv-chassis.com If the differences are typical it looks like a good deal. Any information is appreciated. Michael

I have a RR4R chassis on my 2009 HR Neptune. Had I been more aware of the issues I would not have bought the 35SBD due to the ride issues. I have had the following work done: 1st I installed restrictors in the line to the air bags to stop/restrict sudden surges $1,000. My second issue was the trailing arms I had the replaced, I could not take the chance as I nearly always travel with a full everything and my grandchildren $3,000. My 3rd issue was the shocks and that was the most noticeable difference of all ($600 and best cure) I installed Bilsteins and they made a real difference, I checked out the old shocks and I could compress and extend them by hand. I have what I believe is the best ride available for RR4R chassis. However I am extremely upset with the whole Monaco deal and will probably never buy another Monaco product. The quality they claim is not there. Looks high end on the surface but not behind the scenes. I have heard a lot of people say that the ping tank system is not really effective and all have stated that the shocks were the single best way to improve handling. Good luck!

Important Safety Issue: Monaco, HR & Safari Chassis
boyle908 replied to daperera@juno.com's topic in Type A motorhomes
I had the Monaco LLC arms installed on my 09 Neptune and they did improve the ride a little (FEELS MORE STABLE) Compared to the arm that came off they are monsters cost was $1650+crating@$60 and shipping was just under 300. Installation in San Jose was just under $1,000 (9.5 hours) for a toal cost of 3K I am really upset with monaco LLC as they would not accept any responsibality or cut me any slack whatsoever I feel like I have been ripped Everyone knows it is the same company/gang just re-organized. I have replaced the original shocks (@ 7k miles) with bilsteins and that really made an inprovement I could compress and expand original shocks easily by hand (= useless). The ride kit cost about 1K and will cost approx. 1K to install. It has 8" air bags and an additional (ping) tank. I do not feel the cost is justified Hope this helps Mike
