dubriske Report post Posted January 24, 2010 Has anyone have any experience towing a 2010 Chevy Malibu all four down?
tyreeles Report post Posted January 26, 2010 Chevrolet Malibu 2010 tows great. Blue Ox base plate fits with small modification to the grill. Major problem is pulling the ignition fuse. It's smaller than your thumb nail and very hard to get to under the passenger side of the console. Have been many places to look for a switchable fuse so you do not have to remove the console panel every time you tow. Has any one found an alternative? dubriske Report post Posted January 26, 2010 I wonder if you would have to pull the circuit breaker. You wouldn't think their would be that much drain on the battery for even 6 to 8 hours of driving if you run the car for a while at your destination.
tyreeles Report post Posted January 26, 2010 I did some research today and found a plug in fuse/switch at RV-parts.com ($39.95 US). Company is sending me some photos of an installation on a 2010 Malibu. By removing the fuse it will eliminate battery drain but I am not sure if miles will accumulate on the odometer. I previously towed a 2003 Saturn L200 and removing the ignition fuse kept towed miles of the odometer.
dubriske Report post Posted January 31, 2010 I was reading Quicktips in the March 2010 Motor Home edition, and this tip deals with installing a Dome Light Switch with Harness Kit from a company called Quadratec. The company supplies mostly Jeep parts but this might be the solution for having to pull the circuit breaker on the Malibu. The tip in the magazine explains it much better, or go to www.quadratec.com and search for Dome Light Switch.
