phishphair Report post Posted April 8, 2012 We are looking at a route from Las Vegas to Three Rivers, CA We are wondering how difficult it is to drive big rig (Phaeton 43 with toad) from Betty, NV over to Olancha, CA. Thanks
0 dkreuzen Report post Posted April 21, 2012 The road isn't bad but it is VERY steep and curvy in some places. There are two mountian passes to go over. I went over that route from CA to NV in july 2011 and I would not do it again. If you do it in the summer make sure your cooling system is in perfect condition. 0 CuzEl Report post Posted June 24, 2012 Yes. dkreuzen and newbie are right. Came over that road last week when it was 111 at Furnace Creek. As long as your rig's transmission and engine are tuned ... take your time ... enjoy the scenery ... take your time! We had breakfast in Pahrump and lunch at Father Crowley's rest area west of Panamint Springs. No problem. Be sure your co-pilot has the camera and binoculars ... Grades and curves sound worse than they are ... again... take it easy ... No problem! Guess it depends on how used you are to mt. driving!
