littledawg Report post Posted January 12, 2011 FWIW, Here is an idea we are using.... RV is titled, etc in Montana LLC. Insurance is in name of LLC. We carry an invoice showing that we as individuals, have rented the RV for 60 days from the LLC. There is no law that I am aware of that prevents the manager of a LLC from renting a vehicle to any person he choses. We update the date on the invoice and reprint it every 2 months. The theory is that this additional (simple) layer should provide a very simple explanation to anyone that has any questions..... This is not legal advice, just an idea that makes sense to us! shields Report post Posted January 13, 2011 If you reside in California, or if you store the vehicle in California, you will be fighting an uphill battle. The rules are complex and you'll need to spend sufficient time to make sure you are complying. The Bennett Law Firm in Missoula, MT (866-543-5803) has extensive experience in these matters and I would recommend them to you. However, California is cash strapped and is trying collect every possible dollar. So make sure you are wholly compliant if you go that direction. Good Luck!
