DoggyDaddy Report post Posted August 15, 2009 I have observed 3 methods used to make raising and lowering the ramps of toy haulers easier. (1) a large horizontal coil spring near and the length of the hinge. (2) vertical garage door style springs on each side of the ramp. (3) Gas piston struts (like on cargo doors) inside the side walls of the ramp entry. (Damon Outlaw). Has anyone ever had or seen any problems of failure and damage. 30 years ago I recall hearing and seeing the results of the door springs on my garage at home fail and shoot up to the rafters with great force.
