Found Our Unit - Finance, Insurance and Registration Questions
Glennon2434 replied to judatt's topic in RV Insurance
Remember when you are shopping for insurance, don't do the cheap on liability limits. I have seen some people with 100/300,000 bodily injury and 50,000 property damage limit. Picture yourself (not an RVer) being hit by a 40 foot vehicle. You know the guy who hit you is rich. You want primary liability and an umbrella/excess liability with at least $ 2,000,000. -
Not to defend them, but insurance carriers(companies) are for profit ventures. They are trying to make a buck, sometimes it appears not fairly. Something to look for is the difference in coverage, limits, deductibles, terms and conditions. It is very difficult, the only company to provide me a sample policy was Progressive. I don't insure with them but at least they complied with my request after a lot of arm twisting. Liability limits are important. You have an accident in a Prevost, do you think the guy you hit sees dollar signs?

Diesel Motorhome MPG-- Honest Answers Please
Glennon2434 replied to luckydog1949's topic in Type A motorhomes
I have a 2001 Winnebago 35 with a Ford V10. I pull a 2008 four door Jeep. I can't pass skate boards on the highway and I can't a gas station at 4.89 mpg after a tuneup. 8 mpg would be wonderful. -
I really can't can see where adding a lot/parking spot to a Homeowners Insurance Policy would be expensive or impossible. Doing via a separate policy might be a problem or at least more expensive than adding by endorsement. In most cases you can add some rental property to a homeowners contract. Try asking a knowledgeable agent. If you do not have coverage and an incident/accident occurs you may find yourself staring at a default judgment, all because you did not respond when sued. Try to get any ones response in writing. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I SEE IN THE PRIOR COMMENTS...thinking you have coverage under an umbrella or excess liability policy. With few exceptions you need underlying liability coverage for the umbrella or excess contract to come into play. My profile does not say it but I am still a licensed Texas Agent and Risk Manager, also a Certified Insurance Counselor. I just don't do it for money anymore.

Great I bet the 7 inch display will be better. If you have an IPAD try the "All Stays" app. It is out standing. Glenn

Don't waste your money on the Rand McNally model. It is small and the only thing it does different is gives you speed warnings. My Garmin is four times the GPS. Hard to see, hard to use and does not give you the information they promised.

Just Received Rand Mcnally's TripMaker RVND 5510

I was one of the first owners of the RV GPS. What a waste of money. I recently returned (yesterday) from a three week trip. I thought it would give me all sorts of neat stuff. It told me about speed zones, big deal I have a wife for that. I used my Garmin (I think a 1200) with it's big screen and the Rand McNally unit with it's minature screeen. If I was 20 inches from the windshield maybe ok, but it is to small. Another product designed by trailer people and people who have never been in or driven a motorhome. I am going to a six state rally and perhaps I can meet the people from Rand McNally and tell them to stick to maps. -
Just returned from a rally in Fredericksburg. Two very nice parks. Kerrville.....Buckhorn resort is all tens on rvparkreviews.com. A plush resort for class A's. Saw some poor guy pull in the gate with a tent trailer and left. Probably would have been nice to meet. Buckhorn is worth the money and it is not too steep. I know of a lot of KOA's which are more expensive and not even close at being as good. Glenn in Plano Texas
