  1. I have 2006 Fleetwood Excursion Class A motorhome.

Where do you gain access, whether the slides are in the closed position or open position, to manually retract the slides in the event of a power failure?

Seems like no access ... one RV service tech told me they would have to remove possibly sofa for front slide access.

I would like to have this knowledge, as I witnessed a similar problem recently at a campsite.

    Thanks, in advance.

    Jim

  2. Don't worry about racism nor the bigots! Enjoy life! I am hispanic married to a "white" woman and have enjoyed to travel 6-8 trips a year! I do recommend to keep a home base since one day you will be too old to travel. Your rig and your wife look beautiful and if you are happy that is all that matters! I am 60 yrs old my wife 57 so we too retired early. We have been retired for 6 1/2 yrs. Enjoy your life!

  3. Ok we have over the past 8 years periodically stayed at KOA Yosemite RV South and have found it very accomodating and pleasant. We have relatives that live in Fresno, Ca so we stay at this KOA and love it! Only 30 amps even though they have some sites in the the N section that seem to have what looks like 50 amp. Rustic and beautiful my dogs love it! close to the casino also although we are not much of gamblers! I would recommend this place without hesitation. Enjoy life!

  4. Jim,

Here is the lighting sequence-- please let us know at what point it fails.

    1. The furnace has 12+ VDC to it (check with digital voltmeter at outside access to the furnace. Many models have a fuse on the control board as well as in your 12 VDC fuse box.

    2. When the thermostat tells the heater to light, the control board turns on the fan. IF, repeat IF there is adequate air flow to close the sail switch, the control board then opens the gas valve and turns on the igniter. If however, something is blocking the air return or the ducts are kinked, vents closed, etc, the sail switch does not close and the control board does NOT turn on the gas or igniter-- since it knows with inadequate air flow it could cause a fire hazard.

    3. In less than one minute (depends on brand and model) the thermocouple must signal the control board that indeed there is a flame burning, or it turns off the propane.

    4. The furnace continues to run until the thermostat signals that the set temperature has been reached (or one of the above safety cut-offs takes over).

Thanks for your help! I don't know what happened but I tried to turn it on again and guess what?! Back heater is working! Just a mystery I guess!

  5. Jim,

    In a word, YES.

Using adapters to adapt a 50 amp coach "down" to 30 amp or even 15 amp is a common process, particularly for storage.

In fact, our 50 amp coach is plugged in exactly like that right now (in storage garage).

Of course one has to be very careful with what loads are run on "lesser" amp service.

50 amp RV service is actually TWO 50 amp hots (look at the CG breakers-- there are TWO 50 amp breakers pinned together)= 100 amps available.

30 amp RV service gives you 30 amps available (single hot). In a 30 male to 50 female adapter, the single hot in the 30 amp end is wired to BOTH hots on the 50 amp end so all circuits in your coach will get power).

And with 15 amps, you have 15 amps available.

Just as in your stick home, the power you have available does not mean you are using that much power-- it just means that that is the maximum that you CAN use.

    Brett

Thank for your imput, it's greatly appreciated!

  6. I am fairly new to RV posting and to RV ownership, I have noticed some neighbors have 50 amp cord connected to 30 amp adapter to what looks like a 15 amp adapter to outdoor household outlet. What is the purpose? Is it to maintain their batteries??

  7. I have a 2006 Fleetwood Excursion diesel pusher had to replace house and chassis batteries recently my question is has anyone had any problems or experiences using Batterytender maintainer to keep batteries fully charged. I think my starting batteries are parallel and house batteries are combination series and parallel. Any suggestions?

  8. Fairly new with motohome experiences. I have a question and as dumb as it may sound, I don't want to make a costly mistake.

I have a 2006 Fleetwood Excursion with Onan 7500 diesel generator. The manual says to run it 2 hours a month even if I don't use it. I have noticed that there are two filler caps -- oil and coolant -- right next to each other. However, I can not see clearly if any coolant/water is in the tank.

I put a small piece of clean bamboo in the tank to see if any liquid was present, but it came out clean. The tank shows a max and min level mark, but it is difficult to see any liquid present near these marks. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am not clear since the coolant and oil fillers are within 2 to 3 inches, and I can't see clearly if there are separate tanks for each one. I don't want to fill either with the wrong product. Help!
