  1. I am over there quite a bit and they allow me to post a link in my signature and in my posts to my blog here. I actually registered to blog there first l but there has been no reply to that which is no big deal. I am very happy to be an FMCA blogger.

  2. There are many a/v remote controlled switch boxes on the market but few coax/f connector ones. I think Herman asks a good question. Why not just use the inputs in the televisons and use coax splitters and do away with the box altogether. The only thing that could stop that is that most tvs only have one coax input and both cable and antenna have to feed to the set. If your set has two f connector inputs the box could be done away with.

  3. Mine went out as well...fan will run but no heat. Snap fuse works fine. I put a 120 volt heater in the bay. I may convert the 12 volts to 120 and still use the snap fuse eleminate the need for an extension cord. The coach is supposed to be be connected to shore power whern using the bay heater because it drains the battery so quickly.

  4. Gramps:

Just to let you know I am still alive and well and enjoy your blogs a lot.

UFO is doing fine and am getting ready for a trip to California in April.

Have purchased a Winegard Trav'ler 1000 and am going to install in a couple of weeks.

Got to get a garden in first or DW will not be happy.

    Regards

Sorry I missed your post....been busy the last few days. My daughter got married this last Sunday and I had family staying in the UFO. I invited Charlie to visit Deer Creek (again) and the same invite goes out to you! Just say when this summer.

  5. Well, you all know how I feel about this subject. The hardest thing for me about owning a motorhome is looking at it parked outside my Home/office window. I want to be in it and on the road to somewhere not just working to pay for it! I am looking for the day that I become an extended timer. That will be a time when Diane, Teddy and myself go out there somewhere for months, not just days or weeks, at a time.

I have to hit the road ... I need to see and do more things that I can blog about

  6. If you getting power from shore power but not from the generator you could have a transer switch problem. If there is no power from either shore or gen than the first thing I would check is that the battery disconnect switches have not been engaged. In my old Bounder the switches were located over the door. I don't know where they are in your PA.

  7. I have had the starting battery go dead while AC is plugged in several times so, after reviewing some motorhome forums, came up with the Ultrs Trik-l Start as a good solution for maintaining the starting battery while connected.

Well, I received it today and installed it on the Isolator (I believe) as described in the installation instructions. I checked the suspect Isolator and each side, starting battery and house battery, had a voltage that reflected the voltage of their respective batteries with the negative terminal removed. Now I have 13.3 V on each battery, as I expected, but none of the lights of the Trik-l Start are lit.

Does anybody have a clue what could be happening here?

If your chassis battery is good and fully charged the Trik-l-start will not go into charge or maintaining mode so no lights at all. I had the same thing happen with mine. I had a chassis battery with a bad cell, and the TLS would light up but once I replaced the battery it has not lite up since. I did check it by "faking" a low charge by connecting the TLS to one six volt house battery. The charge light came on.

  8. It seems like you may have a dead cell. One of those cheap floating ball checkers does work. I have one and it told me that I had a dead cell. It would act like it was charging but it would not start the engine. Once I replaced it a whole lot of things started working better.

  9. Not all coaches are set up to charge the chassis battery when on shore power. My coach will not. I added a device myself that remedies this. It is called a Trik-L-Start. It runs off 12 volts and "borrows" voltage from the house batteries to keep the chassis fully charged. It also has a maintenance mode that helps to keep the battery healthy. It is very easy to install and cost about 56 bucks at Rvupgrades.

  10. I am going to have to start paying more attention to these forums!

Hopefully any questions you have about the UFO I can answer or find the answer for you. I am fimiliar with the Destination, it was one of the coaches my wife and I considered before we purchased our Holiday Rambler. I will answer anything you post here and/or I can make myself available to you over the phone as well. I have spent many hours talking with other UFO shoppers and a few have become owners after talking to me. I will help in anyway that I can.

  11. Welcome to FMCA and to the forums. You will find a wealth of info here along with some freindly coach advice, if you want it. I only pretend to know a few things so I may not be the best person to listen too!

Once again, welcome and we are glad to have you onboard!
