Thanks Rich. I used to do this stuff all the time ( on cars that is) but it has been a long time. I have learned a lot on this though. It has really been hard. I sure appreciate everyone's help. I could not have done it with out everyone. I will let you know if this fixes the do not shift light. Thanks again, William Horn

I am wondering if theres an easy way to take this alternator out? Does any one have ideas? Thanks, William Horn

I will check this out. I did call John yesterday about rebuilding the ECU. I talked to the tech people at Monaco today. The first thing they said was disconnect the center wire on the battery isolater and use a multi meter and check the voltage for the alternator. Well there it was, jumped from 7 to 8 and that was it. So it is a bad voltage regulator or alternator. Tomorrow I take the alternator out and see if I can get it replaced. I am going to check the voltage regulator also. I sure hope this solves the problem. I will let everyone know. Thanks for all the help, it is much appreciated, William Horn

Hello everyone that has given me ideas to check out on my transmission not shifting.... I have checked everything and nothing works.. I am going to find a place to tow my motor home to get a mechanic to check it out.. Does any one know a good place to have it towed and get it checked out near Grove Oklahoma or Joplin Mo? I appreciate everyone for taking the time to give me ideas.. I am just tired of messing with it now.. I need to get it fixed and get back to Colorado Thanks again, William Horn

Well we finally got propane, we were almost empty when we finally got someone to come where we are, I guess I am gonna have to get it towed because I sure can't get it figured out. I can't get the mode to clear. I finally noticed when I first turned the key on and N blinked a couple of times there was also a mode on blinking. I tried to hold the mode light down to clear it but that did not work. I appreciate all the members that have given me ideas to search. William Horn

Rich, thanks for the help. No the shift pad will not stay lit. If I just turn the ignition on, it stays lit for a few seconds, then blinks and goes blank. I will try the other ideas and will let you know how that turns out. Again thanks, I appreciate you taking your time to help me out. William

I don't seem to have a check engine code light. I just looked all around in that area, can't find anything like that. The check engine lights do come on when I turn the key on. The Neutral light comes on the shifting pad and then blinks a couple of times and then it is just blank. I also put the wrong engine size, it is a 300 Cummins.

I forgot to reply about the transmission fault codes. I can not access the fault codes. The transmission just flutters a couple of times and then goes blank

Thanks for the info. I will check that out. as a matter of fact the same thing has happened with the ignition before. I turn it on and nothing happens. A mechanic helped me start it without the ignition switch. Would a bad ignition switch have anything to do with tachometer not working and the do not shift light not working? Thanks

So how long do you think it should warm up? It seems like it is idleing fine. I am really new to this Motorhome stuff. I have contacted some places about checking it out but they all want to tow the motorhome someplace. Two mechanics came out but knew nothing about what the problem is Thanks for the info William Horn

I have tried all of these things, someone told me if the tach isn't working the trans wouldn't. I can't find out anything on the tach, how to check it out. I called Monico and they told me this year Monaco does not have a diagnostic plug. Thanks for all the input, William Horn

I have a 1994 Monaco Dynasty. We parked at a resort for a couple of months and started the motorhome to go into town to purchase propane. Everything went well until I started to put it in gear. All at once the do-not-shift light came on, and the shifting pad blinked a couple of times and then went black. Every time I turn the key on, the N blinks a couple of times and then goes black. Nothing is lit up on the shifter pad, and the do-not-shift light stays on. The tach does not work -- sometimes if you rev the engine it will go crazy but does not work right. Does anyone have ideas that I could check out? Stuck in Oklahoma. William Horn
