  1. As someone  who has had to clean sealer out of ac  systems on farm equipment I would not advise using it.Plugs expansion valves orfice tube etc.

  2. I agree you should not have to put up with problem when it states in manual its OK, but it is what it is.

The bungee cord trick may work but you also have to limit the amount the steering wheel will turn.

You do not want the wheel to turn over half a turn. I would limit it to a little over a third.

Remember my dad doing this years ago because when wheel went over half turn they would not return. With limiter he no more problems.

  3. At this point I would:

1 have someone ride in car as you tow it around to see where steering wheel is and how it reacts when shaking happens.

2 find a large parking lot and have someone follow along in separate vehicle to observe the same actions when shaking happens

3 trying leaving engine on vehicle idling in neutral to see if this makes any difference

4 put rear tires on front see if this helps

All this makes me wonder if the tight turn you said you made may have bent something on towbar or base plate.
I assume when you are towing you are not loading rear end of ca r(cargo area and back seat) real heavy.

The more information you can give to anyone looking at your vehicle helps.

  4. If you are using a quick charge kit with only one gauge on the can you need to get an ac manifold with high and low side gauges.

Quick charge kits are fine until there is something wrong.

No or low low side pressure but high side pressure for example, equals plugged or stuck expansion valve, blocked line, other problems.

Charge r134 by weight only not sight glass as many 134 systems will have some bubbles in glass when fully charged by weight.

Many small cans are only 12 ounce cans so charge by ounces not lbs.

  5. Maybe we should get the laws changed so the politicians have to run for election every year. Maybe that would keep the prices going down.

And have to listen to all the I will do this and I have done this every year,No thanks I will pay higher price and get a treat every so many years. JMO

  6. Many times after compressor failure small particles get caught in passages of condenser plugging them.

If they cannot be blown or flushed out you need to replace the unit. I assume they have checked for good air flow across condenser. Mine has two fans that move air through the condenser. If yours is this way one could be not working or if it is radiator mounted it could be bad fan clutch.

I would ask them if head pressure was OK when they installed compressor for clutch pulley problems?

If it was good at that time and is now high and unit is plugged with debris from compressor ask about compressor manufactures warranty. .

    Good luck

  7. There are two units of Roosevelt NP,south unit at Medora, north unit on highway 85 north of i94.When at Medora be sure and take in the Medora musical and pitchfork fondue.North unit is nice to see also, but 85 has a lot of oil field traffic on it.I would would think 3-4 days would be great plenty at Medora(south unit).

You could go up 85 to north unit then 85 to us 2 east to Minot then up us 83 and 5 to Bottineau to take in the international peace garden, then back to highway 5 to i29 then to grand forks then us 2 to Duluth. Many things to see in small town North Dakota, most not on a grand scale but very nice.

Other than oilfield in western ND you wont find a lot of traffic or rush rush. travel safe and have fun,

  8. While charging an ac system is not complicated it can be dangerous or costly if not done properly. Some things to check are.

1 does the compressor clutch kick in when turning air on and off ?

2 do the fans on the condenser run,may take awhile before they do ?

3 look for oily spots on lines and by compressor pulley, indication of leak as oil travels with freon

If all the above are OK and you try to add, feel lines where they enter and leave the dash unit and charge slowly till the temperature

is equal. Be careful and wear goggles and gloves.

    Good luck

  9. We are going to travel the coast highway from Astoria south thru California.

Will be in Astoria about the 10th of December to start our exploration of the coast.

I know its the wrong time of year but its what I have to work with.

Have bad wore out knees so a lot of hiking is not to be done.

What do we not want to miss?

As we are from North Dakota we want to see some whales, seals ,litehouses, museums, etc.

Plan on taking our time as we have all winter to do this.

Plan is to travel 101 in Oregon and northern California then some on #1 to just north of SF.
Cannot wait to see the giant Redwoods.

Know about twisty roads and I am not a nervous jervis about those.

Thanks to any and all for any info

  10. I bought a Pressure Pro system 4 years ago, has performed great ever since.

Have had to call for assistance when I was too stupid to understand and follow book directions-- they were great to help.

I bought the remote antennae to be sure to get a signal from toad. Don't think i would have needed too but i did.

My system will handle up to 30 tires.
