  1. Having read several comments concerning FlyingJ/Pilot fueler program (lots of negativity) I decided to comment. We have been traveling since May 1st and have fueled exclusively at FJ and Pilot. Happy to report that each time I inserted our FJ card at the truck pump it was intantly approved with directions to fuel and pay inside. The part that is great is we get "cash" price plus 3cents off of cash price. Worked every time, hassel free. Thanks FJ and Pilot

    Jim

Thank you for giving us a chance despite the negativity. We are working hard to make things up to our RV customers.

  2. Hi ronnewsam and DarinCox,

To activate the pump start feature (at the truck diesel pumps) one does need to take their PFJ Frequent Fueler Card (or the old RV Real Value Card) to a PFJ cashier. They will need to see your driver's license. They will enter information from the license into their computer. Once completed the pump start feature is immediately available for your use.

Once you have the pump start feature, treat your Frequent Fueler card the same as a credit card. If you loose it or lend it and the card is associated with a drive off fuel theft, guess who PFJ will come after to collect the $s? If you loose the card report it lost to PFJ immediately.

Actually, you no longer have to show your driver's license to a cashier to activate pump start. It should activate as soon as you register your card. We changed this back in mid-March to make it easier on customers.

  3. Hello everyone - I want to let you know of a new thread I started under General Discussions that the forum moderators have pinned. Here is the link:

I have found this to be helpful in answering questions about Pilot Flying J. On this thread you will see all of the latest RV info and links to our RV websites. You also will find info on how to contact Pilot Flying J if you have a situation where something didn't work properly at one of our stores. I highly recommend you using the process and email address that I have posted on this thread for answering your questions. This email goes directly to our RV specialist in customer service who can easily pull up your account and see where the problem may be.

If the info provided doesn't answer your questions, please post your question on that thread for me to answer. I will be mainly focused on that thread versus this one. Thanks for your help and for letting me be part of your community!

  4. Hello FMCA Members,

I have started this thread with the blessing of the FMCA forum moderators for questions about Pilot Flying J's RV Frequent Fueler Program.

If you need help with a specific RV incident, please send an email to RV@pilotflyingj.com with the following info:

    a. Your RV Real Value or Frequent Fueler number.

    b. The transaction number from your receipt.

    c. A short narrative explaining your concern.

    d. The names of PFJ people you talked to.

    e. Date and place the transaction occurred.

    f. Your name, email address, and phone number registered with your RV card account.

For all other questions/comments please contact PFJ directly at Pilot Flying J Customer Service.

The following two links should be read before posting questions about PFJ's RV Frequent Fueler Program. They answer most questions.

    1) http://pilotflyingj.com/rv-home - Please be sure you understand and follow the fueling process outlined in the RV section of our website at this link. If the process is not followed, discounts and cash price may be lost for that transaction.

    2) http://www.frequentf...radvantage.com/ - Follow this link to register your RV Frequent Fueler Card (or the RV Real Value Card from Flying J before the merger). From this site you can register a card, create an online account, and check back on your online account.

Below is general information regarding fueling for RVers at Pilot Flying J:

    1. You must register your PFJ card (your old Flying J card or one of the new orange RV cards provided by all PFJ stores) to activate the Pump Start Feature at the truck diesel islands.

    2. At the truck pumps, the first screen may ask for an ICC #. Just insert your registered RV Frequent Fueler Card and follow the instructions on the screen.

    3. In AZ discounts are not allowed or require a different process. Signage at these location needs to be read to understand what is available and how to acquire a discount. Due to regulations in NJ and WI, PFJ is unable to give any fuel discounts at locations in these states. Specific tax regulations in IN and OR are currently preventing us from processing discounts at the truck diesel lanes. We are working on a solution. Until we reach this solution, you will need to use the RV lanes to obtain your discount in these 2 states.

    4. There is no ability to process credit cards at the truck pumps. PFJ is looking at allowing this in the future.

    5. When paying for fuel pumped at the truck diesel pump, present your payment method and your registered RV frequent fueler card to the cashier. The net cash price (discount and cash price) was displayed at the pump, once the pump recognizes you are a frequent fueler. It will not be broken out as line items on the receipt, but reflected in the overall total.

The following are additional items and assumes one has a registered PFJ RV Real Value Card or RV Frequent Fueler Card:

    1. The Pump Start feature is available immediately once your card is registered. There is no 500-gallon minimum before the feature activates.

    2. Pump $ cutoffs:

    2a. VISA Auto/Car Lanes = $150.

    2b. VISA RV Lanes = $495.

    2c. MC, Discover, AMEX Auto/Car & RV Lanes = $75.

2d. Payment method does not matter at the truck pumps. Truck Pumps = $750.

    3. Payment method is not a factor for starting the truck pump.

    4. Payment method in cash or check at the RV/Auto pumps will require one to go into the store to get the pump started.

    5. There are no limits on the amount of discounts one can earn.

  5. I went back to Pilot web site and found this :

What is Pump Start and how do I get it? Pump Start allows you to start the fuel pumps using your Frequent Fueler Advantage RV Card or your RV Real Value Card (if you are currently using one). To get the Pump Start feature, you must register your card at the cashier's counter at any Flying J or Pilot location. After you have purchased 500 or more gallons from Flying J and / or Pilot, we will activate your card for Pump Start. You can see how many gallons you have purchased toward your Pump Start activation qualification by logging into your Frequent Fueler Advantage RV account online, at www.FrequentFuelerAdvantage.com, by checking your account at the in-store Driver Kiosk asking a manager at your closest Pilot or Flying J.

So I guess pump start is NOT automatically turned on when you register.

It will take me several years to get to 500 gallons. So that is not much of a feature for me.

Best place to fuel up today is Wal-Mart ... where they have a fuel station.

Good Price ... discount if you use there cash card ... and most of them are big enought to get in with a 40 foot and towing.

I am so sorry for the confusion. I thought that portion of the website had been changed already to reflect the new procedure. I just sent a message to IT to have that fixed immediately. You are automatically registered for Pump Start at the truck diesel lanes when you register your RV card (whether it is an older FJ card or one of the new orange RV cards). You do not have to show your license to a cashier or fuel 500 gallons to receive the discount. This is a requirement for our blue Professional Driver cards but NOT the orange RV cards or previous Flying J RV cards. I hope this helps cut down on the confusion. Also, if you would send me your card #, I can look it up to see what the error is. Please email me at lynsay.caylor@pilottravelcenters.com. Thank you!

  6. No, this is something new since the take over. I am not sure that you can register it on the website since someone from FJ/Pilot needs to register your card with the information from your drivers license.

Actually, you do not have to show a driver's license for registration. You just need to visit http://www.frequentf...radvantage.com/ to register your card. Pump start is automatically turned on for all registered RV cardholders. Even if you registered back with Flying J several years ago, if you haven't registered since Dec 15, 2010 through our new program, your card won't start the pump to get your discount.

  7. I fueled at the Pilot (former Flying J) in St. George, UT on 4/18 and used the truck lane because my last Flying J directory indicated they did not have an RV island. I took my Flying J card and Visa card to the clerk inside to initiate the transaction. After filling, I went in to get my receipt and found no discount and that I was charged the credit price. The first stupid clerk said I needed to register my card. The senior clerk gave me the 3-cent discount, but stated that the credit price was charged at both auto and truck pumps, even with the RV "loyalty" card. I won't be loyal much longer.

I am sorry for the misinformation that this store gave you. I know this has been more of a headache for you than anything else. Do you know if your card has been registered or not? I can check that for you if you sent me your card # to lynsay.caylor@pilottravelcenters.com. If your card is registered, you just need to swipe it at the truck pump, fuel, pull forward, and then pay inside when you are done. The only way to receive the discount at the truck pump is by swiping at the pump. The total on your receipt should then reflect the cash price plus the $.03 discount. This won't be a line item on the receipt, but it will be reflected in the total. I'll be sure to have someone address this at that store as they were incorrect in telling you that you get the credit price. You do always get the cash price + discount when you swipe your loyalty card when fueling.

  8. I sent an e-mail to Pilot regarding our fuel purchases and did get a reply. They said that the pump shutting of $250 was an error and would be corrected. As far as no discount on our second fueling to finish the job they said that there normally is no discount but that we could contact their credit department and they would issue us a credit. Frankly I was surprised to get an answer from them. I read the more recent posts and hopefully things will be corrected!

    They appear to be trying.

I'm glad you received a reply. Did they get you all the answers you needed? If not, please let me know how I can help. Thank you! We certainly are trying!

  9. Linsay, I use a credit card that gives me credit, but only if I pay at the pump. This works if I go through the RV lanes. But I refuse to use the truck lanes if I have to take the card inside. I won't get my credit from the card company. Isn't there some change that can be made so I can use my credit card at the pump in the truck lane?

Yes, there is a solution for this, and we will have that capability later this year. We have a whole new system going in place this summer that will allow us more control than we do now so that we can start the pump and process credit cards at the truck lanes. I do not have a definite time on when that will be available, but I will post on this forum when we do have that functionality.

  10. Hi KKelly - I thought the limit was $750 for truck lanes so I will have to check with technology to see if that was changed. I'm sorry I don't have that info right off the bat for you, but I will get back to you shortly. I am sorry you haven't received a response on this yet, but I will get you an answer. Thank you!

KKelly - I talked with our technology group and the limit is still $750. Looks like we had a glitch in the system for a few days that stopped the pumps at $250. That has since been changed. Please let me know if you have any other issues with this. Thanks so much for your patience.

  11. I recently traveled from Gulf shores, Alabama back to Michigan. Stopped two times at a Flying J using the diesel truck lanes. First time it shut me off with the Great RV frequent fueler card at $250.00 When asked inside when I paid then with the Credit card the 12 y/o girl behind the counter...Said thats the Limit...End of discussion. I have since emailed Pilot and got a very nice response about they would look into it!

I sent my card number and a copy of the fuel receipt to them. End of discussion. NO further email or anything. When I asked why it shut me off there was not a reply. BUT I did get cash price with the discount for using my credit card. Who knows what Pilot /Flying J is up to.

I guess they do not want me to spend too much money at their pumps!

  12. Well, at the Flyin J I used the RV lane and there was no where on the pump to swipe the RV card, so I asked my wife to go in with the card and cash to get the pump started. Are all pumps equipped to have cards swiped or not?

Hi Paul - At the RV lanes you put your credit card in first then it will prompt you for your loyalty card. If you are paying with cash, you do have to prepay inside where they will swipe your card. If you were to use the truck lanes, you swipe your loyalty card only to start the pump and then pay inside when you're done.

  13. So here's the big questions Linsay. You have specifically avoided the entire CC question. Discounts here and there (still wonder what my points mean), but nothing about using a CC. Are we (today!) going to be able to pull our RV into the truck lanes (I take 200 gallons so the RV pumps can take 1/2 hour to fill), swipe my FJ card, have the pumps start, pay with a CC when I get inside and get the cash price as well as my 3 cent discount? Today! At every Flying J? No hassles, no questions, no discussion?

Hi Bill - You put that so perfectly. :) I'm definitely sharing that with the group. As the system works today - if you have registered your RV card either at the register, an in-store kiosk, or at http://www.frequentfueleradvantage.com, YES - it will work that way. One important note is that you need to swipe the RV card ONLY at the pump - no CC. What the problem seems to be, is that old info is still hanging out in the stores since we've updated the program. We are furiously working on getting all that removed and only have the most recent info available. Please keep me updated on your visits so that I can correct anything. Thank you!

  14. At Pilot, I-35 South Exit 184 I was told my old card was no good and was issued a new card, and also was told the discount did not apply unless a minimum of 25 gallons was purchased. I was topping off my tank before leaving on the next leg of trip and only needed 22 gallons to full it up, so no discount. Then today at Flying J, I-20 East bound exit 3, the card worked perfectly and discount was given for 23 gallons. I know the discount is not a lot of money, but if it works at one why not all of them? Beginning to think it is more of a bother than anything else...

Hi Paul - I do apologize for this, but the store was incorrect with the info they gave you. I will address with them immediately. There are no limits to discounts. You do not have to fuel 25 gallons to receive the discount. That is company-wide. So just continue as you did at the 2nd stop & you will receive your discount.

  15. Bill, you pretty much summed this up for all of us RVers. This is exactly how most of us would have put it. Now if they will take this to heart and truly try to work this out to get all of us back it would be nice. I'm afraid they'll handle this just like the politicians would handle it. Take the heat for a bit as they figure we'll forget about it and come back without addressing the real issues. We may come back if they really look at what they have done, and make some changes for the good. Maybe they'll see that other truck stops are welcoming our dollars, dollars that used to be theirs, not only in fuel, but in their shops, and restaurants. I'd think they would be feeling it in their pocket book by now . If not now in the near future as more and more RVers get smart. The summer crowd hasn't hit the road yet, and newbies don't quite know what is going on, but they're RVers, and they're not stupid and will figure out what has happened.

Thank you all for taking my question to heart and answering it with specific examples. We may not have been a company that listened well in the past, but I can tell you that things are certainly changing. We realize the importance of giving customers what they want and need and helping solve problems. I am sorry for all of the hassle you've experienced from the changes. We've learned that many people loved Flying J and want to hear more about what made you love them. This is great feedback, and I can tell you I'm moving it right on to others here. Thank you for your patience, poise, and feedback as we are learning how to better serve you.

  16. Hi Lynsay,

I just looked up the new travel guide for Pilot Flying J and I am disappointed. It no longer shows which facilities are RV friendly, such as where there are RV lanes, propane or a dump station and/or RV parking.

Is this information available on line somewhere?

    Thanks for any information.

    Bounder 32W / Durango

Hey Tony - Yes, we do have an RV specific travel guide. You can download it here: http://pilotflyingj.com/rv-home under the "NOW AVAILABLE" header. It shows you all of the amenities you mentioned above. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with!

  17. Linsay,

While it makes no difference at this point, I wanted you to know that I think the change to Denny's restaurants was a terrible choice. I know it relieves you of that responsibility but the food was so good at the Flying J restaurants that I always tired to time our fuel stops at meal time. I would avoid a Denny's at all costs unless I am absolutely desperate and there is simply no other choice (like eating the green pizza in the fridge).

The change from Flying J to Pilot/Flying J is just so dramatic as to make all the reasons I stopped at a Flying J moot. We travel full time and we have been using the Flying J's across the Country for over 10 years. Nearly every fuel stop was done at "the J".

Thus far this year I believe we have only stopped there a few times. We want the old Flying J back and you seem to indicate that this is not going to happen. That will be a great loss for both of us.

Hey Bill - I actually would like to know specifically what you loved about the old Flying J. In knowing what it is you loved and want back, maybe we can change things. That's what I'm here for. To hear from you all and take back your thoughts to Pilot Flying J. :)

  18. Hey everyone! I'm Lynsay with Pilot Flying J. The Perry, GA rally was our first FMCA event too, and we had a great time meeting all of you. If you have any questions about our new RV Frequent Fueler Advantage card, please contact me or check out the website at http://www.frequentfueleradvantage.com/. You can get unlimited discounts on all fill up lanes at more than 550 locations across North America. This card will get you $.03 off every diesel gallon, $.02 off gas, $.10 off propane, and $5 off dumping fees. You can now fuel at any of our truck diesel lanes if you prefer. You can also download our new travel directory at http://pilotflyingj.com/rv-home. Hope to hear from you all!

  19. The dumping fees were put into place before the merger when Flying J had filed for Chapter 11, but we do try to offset that cost by giving a $5 discount on dumps with your RV loyalty card. In all honesty, does that sound like a reasonable charge? I know that doesn't make up for everything, including wanting the old Flying J's back, but we really do want to make your experience as much as it used to be with Flying J - who you grew to know and be able to count on. Also, have you tried the new hot delis, coffee bar, pizza or Denny's in many of the Flying J's? I'm just curious what you all think of them. Thank you for your input. I really do appreciate it!

  20. On pricing, we do price competitively with every market we're in. Fuel inventory is turned in our facilities much quicker than many smaller operations. With that, it means we purchase fuel more frequently and can incur higher costs due to the volatility of the market. I completely understand decisions to fuel elsewhere, but I can tell you we do offer something our competitors don't specifically for RV customers. Unlimited gas and diesel discounts on all lanes, bulk propane, dump stations, a network of over 550 locations in North America, about 150 locations with dedicated free overnight RV parking and special exclusive offers such as the coffee club (buy 5 hot beverages and the 6th is free) and other coupons available on your online account at www.frequentfueleradvantage.com.

If you ever have any suggestions on how we can improve our RV offering, please let me know.

    Contact me anytime. Thank you!

  21. Hearing from you all has helped us tremendously to find out where we need to focus our efforts. It looks like our biggest issue here is that all 550+ stores are not on the same page about the program. We are looking into new ways to communicate this program with each team member.

I can't apologize enough for the inconveniences you all have had. We know you just want the program to work and be easy. Thank you for your feedback as I've already heard from many of you through email since my last post.

Please continue to send me your questions/ideas/suggestions to social@pilotflyingj.com. I did hear that some tried to email there, and it didn't work. If so, please send to sm3@pilottravelcenters.com.

Thank you all very much, and I look forward to talking with you.

  22. Hello everyone! My name is Lynsay and I'm here to talk with you about these many issues you have been discussing about your experience at our stores over the last few months. First and foremost, let me sincerely apologize for the many inconveniences you all have noted here. We have struggled since the merger to provide you with excellent customer service. Thank you for posting your experiences so that we can pinpoint problems with the system and program. After reading this thread we are taking a full on approach at training all stores about this program. We are making this a top priority. I do want to clear up a few things from the above posts.

    1. Be sure that your RV loyalty card is registered completely. Easiest way to do that is by creating an online profile at www.frequentfueleradvantage.com. Pump start will not work unless you are registered.

    2. There are no minimums or maximums on RV discounts on any of our lanes. You should receive your $.02 off gas and $.03 off diesel for every gallon if you swipe your loyalty card.

    3. Please review the pump start and transaction procedures we have just updated on our website at http://pilotflyingj.com/rv-home.

    4. You do not have to fuel 500 gallons to pump start or receive discounts.

I am here to help answer any questions you have. Please feel free to contact me anytime at social@pilotflyingj.com.
