There are very few campgrounds in the Chicago area.
I recommend the campground at the Empress Casino in Joliet, southwest of downtown Chicago. It is very clean & safe and close to the interstate but not directly on it so it is quiet. The Casino was changing names to Hollywood Casino when we were there last fall, so check that name as well.
We stay there when visiting family and have always been happy. Their Friday night Seafood Buffet is excellent. As for your dog, I'm sure you will be able to find boarding close by but the Casino might have recommendations.
