Checking fluid levels in house batteries in 2011 Thor Tuscany
ronpatkni posted a topic in Electrical
We purchased a 2011 Thor Tuscany in the spring. Our house batteries are located on a pull-out tray. It is very difficult to see the fluid levels in them. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to see the fluid levels and put distilled water in them. The two rear batteries are almost impossible to get to. Thanks for your help -
We have had Coach Net for several years and had used their service a couple times. On Thursday, December 20, 2017, we left eastern NC headed to Brunswick, GA. A trip which should have taken about 6 1/2 hours. About 1:30 pm we hit some type of metal object while traveling in the center lane of 3 southbound lanes of I-95 about 1 mile south of Pooler, GA and about 2 miles north of the interchange for I-16 (Savannah, GA). We were able to safely get to a very wide emergency lane. When we accessed the damage, we had a blown front passenger tire--the wheel and hub cap were badly damaged. We also noticed the outside rear passenger tire was going down . We called Coach Net about 1:45 pm I will not go into the gory details, but long story short--WE SPENT THE NEXT 22 HOURS ON THE SIDE OF I-95 WITHIN 2 MILES OF TWO MAJOR CITIES. We finally called SOS Tires, Garden City, GA on Friday morning where we had purchased a tire the day before. They came out and straightened the wheel right there on the side of the road, and had us on our way by 10:45 am Friday, December 21,2017. We talked to Coach Net numerous times on December 20. We finally told them about 1 am to forget it for the night. They said they would check back with us in the morning. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK. No one should have to experience what we did. Obviously, we will not be renewing Coach Net.

Congratulations on your new motor home. May you have many miles of happy travels. Attend as many FMCA Rallies as you can to learn so many valuable things and join a local Chapter of FMCA to meet other motor home owners who are more than willing to share their experiences. Where in North Carolina do you live? If you live near the coast within 250 of Myrtle Beach, SC, the Carolina Pelicans will be a good choice of a Chapter. -
Selling A Car That Has Been Flat-towed
ronpatkni replied to ronpatkni's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Thanks for your comments. We have the Cobalt on consignment at a Chevy dealer and he said he was concerned that the mileage was not indicative of the mileage on the car. We have done nothing to conceal the fact that it has been towed. In face the cut-outs they had to make to connect the tow bar are quite visible. After all it is a white car. -
We are trying to sell a 2009 Chevy Cobalt that we have flat-towed behind our motor home for several years. The question has come up--what mileage do we declare on the mileage disclosure? The odometer shows about 47,000 miles, we have towed it about 27,000. I am sure this is something that any number of other owners have encountered. It makes a good bit of difference in the price we can expect to get get for the Cobalt. Any experiences or advice anyone can offer will be appreciated.

A couple weeks ago, I asked for comments experiences towing a Cadillac SRX. I'd still like to hear about your experiences, if there are any.

We are going from 2 cars to 1 and are impressed with the Cadillac SRX. We have met one person who has towed it, but they had not had it but a few months. Do any of you have this car? What has your experience been with flat towing it?

We own a 34 ft '07 Fleetwood Fiesta. We have had a problem for the past several months with Styrofoam balls coming out of the AC vents when we turn it on. The most of them come out in the rear AC vents, but some come out up front, and to a lesser degree the vents in the center of the motorhome. We recently had it in for service on the generator. When they started up the AC after repairing the generator, there was quite a lot of Styrofoam balls on the bed and floor in the rear of the motorhome. Up front, there was some but not near as much as in the rear. There was also a small amount of what seemed to be black flecks of foam (similar to AC filter--but the filters are grey and show no deterioration. We removed all the vent covers and the filter covers. I found that the AC ducting is composed of Styrofoam. I vacuumed all the ductwork that I could get to with the vacuum hose. I got about 1 cup of Styrofoam balls and a couple small chunks of Styrofoam. We called Fleetwood when we first experienced the problem. They suggested that loose Styrofoam had worked itself loose in travel, and that it should not be a continuing problem. We did have a little mouse problem, but we caught them in traps. We also put Bounce sheets all over the area we found them in, and removed all food from the area. We see no tracings from any mice now. Could they have contributed to the problem? We have the motorhome stored in a clean storage lot. We just returned from the motorhome. We ran both AC's and there was very little Styrofoam that came out of the vents. I believe that could have been tiny amounts that I missed when I vacuumed out the ductwork. Has anyone had this problem? If so, do can you help us understand and avoid this problem in the future?
