This is an FYI when chasing down mysterious 12v wiring problems - first time ever encountered!
Those really cool custom trailering looms that you get w/ the tow bar accessory packages caused this guy some short term grief. After chasing down most of the obvious causes of towing-related fuse blows, I discovered that one of the little screws inside the connector on each end, securing the individual wires to the connector, had threaded themselves totally out and were just randomly rolling around inside, deadshorting whichever two or more contact pins they came in contact with. In fact most of the little screws were loose, and could have compounded the dead short problem over time. Just because these looms are really pretty, don't assume they are trouble-free!!
