Had it on my Honda CR-V. Now on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. As someone mentioned, they are super people and totally stand behind the product. The engineering of it is fantastic. Cuts my braking distance by at least 25%, maybe more.

We are flat towing a 2014 Honda CRV using the Roadmaster FuseMaster and still experience a dead battery after towing for long periods (6-8 hours). Found information on e-trailer’s website which references Roadmaster Technical Service Bulletin from June 2, 2015. Thought I would share...

Did you see my posting just above yours that has an even simpler solution?

  3. There is a switch available at auto parts stores that will fit right in an existing blank spot on the dash, at least in my 2012. There is an article in the honda cr-v forum that describes the switch and how to hook it up with an "add-on" fuse. Ah, found an article. Try http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/26-racks-hitches-towing/51441-towing-crv-build-switch-pull-fuse.html. That's not the one I followed. Still looking ... Pulling into a truck stop and there was a pickup stopped on the right and slightly blocking the entrance. Turned to the left to go around him since that is where I wanted to go anyway. He cut right in front of me as I was turning away from him. I continued turning and looked into my mirror in time to see him stop next to me and as I scraped two of the basement doors on his bumper. There was no reason for him to stop, no traffic or whatever. He jumped out calling me every name in the book, etc., etc. and how I ruined his new truck, he pointed out a half inch scratch on the corner of his bumper. No concern over the 6 foot dent in my doors. He ranted and raved until I said I was not listening to him any more and calling the police. He then took off in his pickup. Of course I didn't think at the time to get his license number.

Later I realized it was probably a scam, they way he cut in front of me then stopped, ranting at me for ruining his vehicle and probably going to demand cash until I wanted to call the police.....

This was the first of two accidents on this trip and we are not home yet.

    Arrrggg,

    Gary

Similar to the scam of slammiing on the brakes in front of you ... but the coach is too big for them to risk that one. Sorry about that.

So I have considered the Larson Through the Glass Mount but I was under the impression I was not able to mount that to the windshield. I know that the windshield is it 2 pane laminate but is that the same as double?

    ***

WB3DJU is a dear friend of mine who is a member of FMCA. He has agreed to take a look at the cap to see what the best option would be but after hearing everyone's comments I think I am going to try the through the window mount if it can be mounted to the windshield.

I'm late to this party and you may already have done something, but the Larsen thru-glass works find. I mounted mine on the highest glass window (single pane, light tint) to the driver-side side window. Tip of antenna is lower than my highest point on the coach. I hit repeaters at 10+ miles and the APRS side of my Yaesu FTM-350, on 10W, tracked me quite nicely from Texas to Arizona (Rawhide) and back.

    1) Wishful thinking 3,000 but 1,000 to 1,500 coaches should be more realistic.

    2) That would be up to you. There are lots of trams and most of us will pick you up unless you look too suspicious?

3 & 5) All that information will be in your packet.

    4) There should be a number of location for food.

    6) Again that woul be your choise. There are areas full generators and 7 to 11 generator.

One thing I didn't  mention is to arrive with a full water tank and EMPTY holding tanks. This is very important. Extra power cord and water hose helps.

Was asked by someone about what to expect when going to a National Rally for the first time. First congratulation for coming.

After you have registered, you will receive a packet full of information. Be sure to register early so you can receive your packet early. It can be held for arrival in the will call area but you will be in the dark till then.

In your packet will be several items. There will be instructions and directions into the venue. Please follow the directions so you will be in the right place at the right time.

There will also be Window Placards. There will be one showing what kind of Hook Up you have. One showing that you are a First Timer.

"Please place these in your front window in the lower left hand corner (drivers side) so the folks in Staging know where you go"

There will be a LOCATOR CARD for you to fill out and it must be turned in at the Information Booth.

There will be badge and a badge holder for each registered person in the coach. Badges must be worn at all times for entrance to                                                                         everything, Vendors, Seminars, Entertainment and so forth.

Upon arrival you will be greeted by a parking person in the area known as The Staging Area. At this point you will be instructed to unhook your tow vehicle. (if you are alone or do not have someone to drive your vehicle you may unhook when you arrive at your parking site.

From the Staging Area you will be guided by a Follow Me golf cart to your parking site. (Please be patient some time it is a slow winding drive.)

When you arrive at your site you will be turned over to several folks called Parker's. These folks will guide and direct you into your site.

After you are parked and hooked up you may begin your adventure. In most cases there will not be adequate parking for autos near the buildings. Trams will be running through your area quit often and can get you to where you want to go.

After you are set up you may go to the Information Booth where you will pick up your Goody Bag. Remember your locator card. You need it to get your Goody Bag.

Inside the Goody Bag is a plethora of information and goodies. Program book and a map of the area showing all the locations for Seminars, Vendors, Show Coaches, places to eat and where the Entertainment will be.

If you have any questions or need directions don't hesitate to ask one of the people with "VOLUNTEER" on their badge.

Now again Welcome to your first FMCA Family Reunion aka RALLY. Your are about to meet your New Extended Family.

Note: In case of an emergency please call 911. Give the dispatcher your location. Remember the information you put on the Locator Card. And if at all possible turn on your flasher on your coach. This will help the first responder's locate you faster.

    Herman

PS: Since you are seeing this on the FMCA Forum don't forget the Forum Meet and Greet get together. Wednesday March the 8th in Seminar Room 2 at 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM.

Put a face to the names.

Great info Herman. It served me well when I got to the Rally in the Valley. I had no great surprises other than the view of 2600 coaches from the roof of my Georgetown! I attended the RV Basics course and made a lot of the additional seminar offerings. My ham radio experiment with a vertical antenna attached to the ladder, complete with the "Guilford Courthouse" flag (revolutionary war battle) flying on top was a success as well. What you included in your info was a lot of what is covered in the first-timers packet that eventually came by mail and I've suggested to FMCA that the info be sent out by email as soon as a newbie registers so that those preliminary questions get covered in a timely way. Thanks again for sharing all of that.

Carl, the one piece windshields as far as I know are glued in. The older style two piece, and not all of them are gasket set, most of the newer coaches are adhesive set. As for the windshield getting replaced, if you have comprehensive insurance, that should cover the windshield except for any deductibles associated with your insurance. I don't know about your state, but Florida does not allow the insurance companies in their state to charge a deductible, you can call your agent for what it will entail. Although most companies that do charge a deductible, the comprehensive portion is usually half of your collision deductible. Hope you can get that taken care of, and again Happy Fourth of July, what's left of it. Just one other thought, if you do have collision ins., I would call them first for options, glass breakage doesn't usually count against your use of insurance and cause it to go up in price.

In my policy which included comprehensive, glass breakage is a separate option. Not terribly expensive. I would not assume that glass is covered.

  8. Great info Herman. Very helpful. Couple of additional questions -- and I realize that some may be answered in my not-yet-here packet  :

    1. Home many coaches are expected? Just curious.
    2. Is there a reason to pull the TOAD for such as touring the area? I won't need it any time enroute and it sounds as if things are pretty busy right at the rally.
    3. If attending the RV Basics, when do I need to be at the rally site? Not finding that sort of info except that registration for that gives 2 additional nights camping.
    4. I assume there are many food venues available. Correct?
    5. I've heard about getting an all-wheel weighing. When/how does that happen?
    6. How advisable is it to sign up for electrical hookup? Why would you do that if you have an onboard generator?

Has anyone registered in the last few days for Chandler? We can't submit the form because it says a required field is not filled out but all are!

It may be a java problem if you are still having trouble. You may need to update java on your computer, and if recently updated, you must reboot the computer after the update. Discovered all of that this morning.

It would help if you would post what coach you have...make, model, year, etc.  We are on RV number six and I don't recall ever having any "tank heater pads."

Well, that would help wouldn't it? It's a 2016 Forest River Georgetown 378 XL. I think I've convinced myself they're working  after putting a remote thermometer in the bay and observing it. The switch for the Arctic Pak doesn't tell you the pads are actually drawing current.

In the eight years I've used the Good Sam service the only thing I've needed is to be pulled out when stuck while camping. I'm thankful I made the call. I'm renewing my Good Sam Roadside Assistance this afternoon.

I have Good Sam and the only use has been to winch me out of my back yard! No questions. Not exactly "back yard" but the 1/2 acre plot behind me.

  12. We finally got some cold weather and a chance to see if the pads are working. Still not sure. How warm should they feel to the touch? Should it be obvious that they are heating? I put my hand around the ones on the waste tank drains and am just not feeling any remarkable heat.

I may have to pull some wires apart and measure current drain but hopefully someone can clue me in short of that.

FEAR OF UNKNOWN TEMPERATURE = or = EASE OF MIND

ACURITE wireless THERMOMETER = Indoor / Outdoor Temperatures model #00380W $10.=

    1. Outdoor Remote Sender can be located in compartment with fresh water tank / pump

    2. The exact time when battery's are installed in Indoor Unit starts the 24 Hr timer to record maximum & minimum daily temperatures and automatically resets for new temps 24 Hrs later.

Walmart $10.00 Buy two and locate one in the grey & black water dump valve compartment.

Don't the base units try to read both sensors? They're both 433Mhz frequency and probably on the same channel.
