The magnet is on the screen door, you'll need to invent a way to keep a magnet in contact with the magnetic switch on the step-wall to keep steps retracted; OR, remove one wire from the magnetic switch while steps are retracted, this means you'll need to carry a step stool for entering/exiting.

Check out this website for different size hinges: https://www.protex.com/product-list?Text=screen door hinge

Put a small toggle switch under the step somewhere in reach and hook up the magnetic switch to it. With the piece of steel on the magnet when the switch is open..steps go out. when switch is engaged step goes in...might have to put one inside also.. Double pole double throw....just thinking out loud.

My thoughts were that if a piece of steel is over the magnet and the outside toggle is on the step will be extended when time to go. Having two switches in parallel on inside and one outside give the options for both.  There I go again, thinking out loud.

The actuator switch on the steps is a magnetic switch. I don't remember if the little gadget on the door is magnetic, or the switch is. take a small piece of steel and touch to the switch, if magnetic the piece of steel will be held in place and the steps will retract. If not this way, use a small magnet to achieve the same results. Good luck, and happy trails.

Thanks for your input I taped a magnet to the door and it works as a temporary fix

Double pole Single throw is all that is needed. It's only off or on.

  5. I have a 2017 Coachman Mirada and the 2 of the 3 screen door hinges broke and I do not see anyway to replace the hinges. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so how do you fix the hinge. We are leaving on another trip in 2 weeks so I need a quick resolution. If I remove the screen door the automatic steps will not retract when you start the engine. Does anyone know of a way to manually raise the steps?

  6. I have a 2017 Coachman Mirada and need to replace both 6 volt house batteries, I have pulled the batteries and there is no information of any kind on the batteries, no manufacture, voltage, amps, nothing. How do I find what kind of battery I need to replace the old ones? The batteries are 10 1/4" by 7" by 9" tall, that is all the information I have.

Check the many RV parks around Lake Okeechobee, I think the earthen levees around the lake are owned by the state though, so not right on the water's edge. Which might be a good thing with the abundant alligator population.

We stayed at Clewiston one winter, the RV park(now a KOA) has a fish-cleaning station. Nearby are the boat docks.

I do see RV parks adds saying they have a free fishing lake, I assume they are fished-out most of the peak months, or have a catch and release program.

Thanks for the info, will have to check it out. My experience with the free fishing lakes are that they have a small pond and catch and release policy.

  8. I am new to FMCA and I just purchased a new 36 foot RV in NY and drove it to my home in GA.

I had trouble finding gas stations where my RV would fit. I am currently having my RV set up to tow my vehicle and we are planning a trip to New England in three weeks. Since I had trouble finding a gas station with only the RV, I am concerned it will be even harder to find a station pulling a vehicle. I see RV's pulling vehicles all the time. Is there some way to locate gas stations that can accommodate RV's pulling vehicles?
