There have been many posts on various forums concerning the reliability of some 1200 series Norcold fridges. Some have replaced their units with those rebuilt by this company run by David Force, (I understand he can be reached at the phone # on the website and is very helpful) at substantially less cost then a new Norcold. Others have replaced there unit with a residential unit but consideration on your battery bank size is needed.

The only acceptable replacement for the trailing arm issue in my opinon is furnished by Source Engineering. The replacement offered by Monoco is also reportedly junk.

Chlorine or bleach is used to disinfect/sanitize the freshwater tanks/lines. Vinegar is used to minimize the buildup of calcium and mineral deposts in the tank and water lines. I use 1/4-1/2 c of bleach per 15gal of water 1-2 times per year, let sit 2-4 hrs then flush and 1/2-1 gal of generic white vinegar per gal of water, let sit 4 hrs then flush, 1-2 times per year. You can also use 1/2-1 cup of baking powder mixed with 1 gal of warm/hot water pored into your freshwater tank and run through all lines. Helps neutralize the bleach or vinegar smell if present. On occasion I've done both the bleach and vinegar procedure at the same time but have flushed everything with fresh water between procedures.

With Progressive Insurance they ask how many months out of the year you use your RV and bill you accordingly.
That's interesting. We have Progressive and our MH is in storage usually from Nov-March and we've not been told about that. Is this new for Progressive?

We and (2) other couples are planning to vacation in that general area next August 2012 but VanHorn,Tx has just been been put on our do not visit list.

We put a Safe T Plus steering stabilizer on our Safari and it helped considerably with cross winds and ruts in the road.
I recommend a dampened hydraulic solution rather than springs.

We have the Safe T Plus steering on our mh and find it very helpful. When properly adjusted it helps a lot in keeping the rig tracking straight down the road and minimizes whiplash from passing 18 wheelers.

Sounds like you might have a bad thermistor which is part of what you have been sliding up and down. Here is a link with info on how this works and where to purchase if you're not close to a RV supply store. They are not expensive and are easy to replace. If you do the repair, I would slide the thermistor back to about 1/3 down from the top. http://www.bing.com/...tor&FORM=MYMSNA There should be (2) fans that are thermostatically controlled and located in the outside fridge compartment towards the top. Make sure you here these running as they will help the unit cool better, supposedly.
You might also check and see if your unit is covered under the current Norcold recall for certain Model 1200 fridges. http://www.norcoldrecall.com/
