Georgia to Michigan

We are new RV'ers and are traveling from Atlanta, Georgia to Northern Michigan in late September and would like to take 2-3 days to make the journey. We're looking for advice on what the best routes and places to stop would be. We have reservations in Northern Michigan locked down but aren't sure if we need to make reservations along the way or just decide to stop and see where we are at the end of each travel day. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. When calculating travel in the coach I use 50 mph as a guide to planning trips. Depending on where you are going that would be about 22 hours driving. That isn't counting breaks for fuell, stretch or lunch breaks. 

Let us know how it works out not having reservations.  I like having reservations so I know I have a place to stay and don't need to be searching for some place instead of enjoying happy hour.
