Workhorse Differential Gear Oil Change

Recommended Posts

I'm getting ready to change the gear oil on my 2005 Workhorse with s130 axle.

The drain for the differential oil is the lower capscrew.  I downloaded the manual from Spicer and it states to remove the cap screw to drain and put Loctite 270 on screw to reassemble.

Has anyone changed gear oil on this type axle and have any advice for me?

Do I need to apply heat to the cap screw to remove?

I just recently purchased the RV so I would like to change the oil just so I will know what's in it.

Thanks

According to my owners manual for my 2009 Workhorse W series chassis, the correct differential rear axle fluid is Chevron Delo Gear ESI SAE 80W-90 gear oil.

I believe the filler plug is easily removed with a wrench, no heating applied.  I usually have this done when the MH is in for service.  Very inexpensive.
