Saferide ended up having Good Sam call

Recommended Posts

Got stuck camping at a great place, Legendary Mustang Sanctuary in Alhambra, Ill thru Harvest Host as levelling jacks would not retract.  Roadside Rescue told me they would pay for tow if needed and mobile mechanic for service call to site but I had to pay for labor while there and parts.  I readily agreed but advised I would not need tow if jacks retracted.  WAs told would have service in 1 to 1-1/2 hours.  Approx 1-1/2 hrs later I got a call from mobile mechanic advising Good Sam had notified them and they would be on their way as soon as I gave credit card number for minimum 3 hour charge of $585.  wondering how this got to Good Sam but I told them a definite no. Campground owner Shawn Wilson worked tirelessly to disconnect hydraulic lines, manually raise jacks, wire them so they would not drop, and tape ends of hoses so they would not get contaminated.  Note that vehicle could not be towed, class A 39 ft. 30K lb.  As I have new tires, new batteries, and have full service done annually or more frequently I am beginning to think FMCA Roadside Rescue thru SafeRide is a joke.  Going to cancel and ask for refund.

 Hello Bill,

Sorry to read of your jack problem. Is the brand HWH? If so this will help your accurately identify the model of your leveling system.

When you know your model # simply run a search for the service manual for that model. HWH includes a troubleshooting section in every service manual.

From what you've described the shuttle valve has stopped working. It moves between two positions to either allow oil to flow back into the reservoir or the other position allows pressurized oil to extend jack cylinders. It's all in the service manual)
