PacBrake Switch Issue

Recommended Posts

The exhaust brakes on my 2006 Newmar Kountry Star have stopped working. I can activiate the switch however, nothing happens...no downshifting, no light illumination on the dash, no exhaust brakes. It seems to me that this may be an electrical issue. I have checked my fuse panel and was unable to find one that was labeled "auxiliary brake". I would appreciate any suggestions on what the problem may be or where I should look for a blown fuse.

Welcome to the FMCA Forum.

Your chassis maker is the one who wired your exhaust brake switch.

Contact them with your chassis number.

I have had this happen on my coach...Wire going to the solenoid became loose or broke off. Mine is difficult to find and even harder to get my hands in that area to fix. The hardest thing to repair on my coach is finding out what and where the problem is....Most mechanics are not much help...IMHO

Brett - I took your advice and contacted Spartan. They were very helpful. Within a couple hours I received a reply from Dave (Spartan Customer Service) telling me where to find the fuse panel and which fuse I should check. I was able to replace the blown fuse and repair my brake issue within minutes. Thanks for your advice. Spartan provided great customer service.
