sreynolds Report post Posted August 19, 2011 Does anyone have any feedback on the Huntington Beach RV Park that is just south of the pier? Is it hard to get spots and is it user friendly?
Guest BillAdams Report post Posted August 20, 2011 It great! It's expensive, but it's great! We have stayed several times in a 40' bus. I don't think anything larger would fit. It can be nearly impossible to get a site on weekend if you just drive in but I believe that you can make reservations. This is among our favorite beach campgrounds so find out what you need to do and go there! If you can plan it for a non-Summer, non-weekend you should be able to get in easily. Guest BillAdams Report post Posted August 21, 2011 If we are talking about CA only, we like to dry camp up near Ventura at Emma Beach as mentioned above and another down in Coronado. These are actual camping areas, just no hookups. Emma Beach also has a campground with hookups but we have not stayed there. The others that come to mind are spread across the US. BrianB Report post Posted October 12, 2011 Emma Wood is a State Park and you will need reservations to stay there. It is primative. Faria is a county park and is first come first served. Some hookups and most primitive. Rincon is along the old highway and is primative and NOISY. We were there Sunday night and did not sleep one wink all night. Hobson Beach is at the north end of Rincon and has some hookups and is also a County park.
bbnuttmann Report post Posted October 25, 2011 Silver Strand is right on the sand in San Diego. Just a parking lot, but on the water. If you are lucky enough to be active or retired military there is a great park on the north edge of Camp Pendleton that is right on the beach. We were parked there last March the day of the tsunami. Not kidding. The only time in 20 years we are on the water and there is a tsunami. A non event as it turned out. In Carlsbad there is a park on a cliff over looking the ocean. And a very nice State park on the beach up a cliff in San Clemente.
