Shalamar Lake Park

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody I have just joined FMCA and this would be my first post.

For anyone traveling to southern Ontario this info may help others planning to camp near Niagara Falls Ont.The Shalamar lake park is being advertised on their website that they have all kinds of things for kids to do. In reality there is NOTHING for kids to do there. The only thing this park has to offer is an oversized pool.

My wife and I took our grandchildren for their first trip with us in our motorhome for the first of July holiday and after reading online what this park supposedly had to offer thought it would be a fantastic place for the kids to go, NOT. After we set up and started to relax the kids went swimming and came back after an hour. I pulled out the literature they gave us at check-in and it said it had crafts and the kids went to check it out at the office.

Coming back after 10 min. were told we don't do that here. WHAT the **** ,did I read it wrong? After putting my glasses on re read the lit. sure enough it was there in black and white so I went to the office and was told the same thing.

They said they had kareoke for kids. If you count the park owners drunk teenage daughter trying to sing and stand up at the same time, I guess you could say they had kareoke. While at the office another motorhome owner pulled up to the gate and demanded his money back because there was quote" nothing there for kids to do there" . I guess I should have known from that that we were in trouble. Did he get his money back you ask-- yes he did although they say there is no refund if you leave early. Anyway I know I am boring the **** out of whoever reads this but save your time, money, frustration and your sanity and do you and your family a favor and pass up Shalamar lake park.

If you want a good child friendly, user friendly park may I suggest Cam Park on Lundys Lane it is a good place to be.

But please remember a poor day with the Grand Kids is better then a day without them.

You make it fun for them.
