Chassis Air Conditioner Freon Check

Recommended Posts

I have a 2005 Inspire 330 #51264.

I would like to check the chassis freon pressure before I embark on a rather long summer trip.

I have two questions; How do I know which freon is in my system. 134A seems to be what is readily available.

The instructions on the freon cans say "locate the low pressure port" I have located a port but how do I know if it's

the low pressure port?

Any thoughts positive or negative regarding using the freon kits with hose & gauge that all auto parts store carry.

Thank you,

RJ

Go to a auto parts store. Buy a can of freon, 134A is all you can get and thats what you need. Get the one with a gauge on the hose. Connect the hose to the low side port. That's the only one it will fit, usually a blue cap. The gauge will tell you with a OK or other reading. If it needs it, you can then put a shot or two in.

If it needs freon, that means its leaking, refrigeration systems are sealed and do not require addition of freon unless its leaking.
