US 74 from Ashville, NC to Cleveland, TN

I want to drive my 32 foot motorhome frome Ashville, NC to Cleveland, Tn. on US74 with toad. I have heard it may not be suitable for motorhomes.

Any advice?

Also any camping along the way close to the route?

We drove that route a couple of years ago from Asheville all the way to Chattanooga. Beautiful drive and no problems that I recall. Lunch next to the Nantahala was a nice break too:

as you can see, the road was a very good drive in our 32 Bounder w/Toad and the guys & gals on the motorcycles seemed to be enjoying it too.

As for camping, we didn't stop along the way but I think there are many campgrounds along that route. I was just looking up a place to go to visit our nephew over in Cullowhee and found many to choose from.

Just be aware of the bikers. They like to use this route to see how fast they can take the curves. They are patrolling it better for speeders than in the past.
