    The generator has 259 hours. No fuel problems with the coach, and I have not run any injector cleaner through the system. The smoke is white. Thanks for the information. Dudley

  3. Dudley started following US 74 from Ashville, NC to Cleveland, TN, Recommend State Park Near New Orleans and High Altitude Diesel Generator Smoking

    My 5kw Onan starts normally at low or high altitudes, but above 6,000 feet it smokes alot after starting for about 15 to 20 minutes. It also runs rough above 8,000 ft. It sounds to me that it may be starving for air, and the air filter is new. Does anyone know of an adjustment for higher altitudes? The Onan dealer had no clue.

    We have stayed at Bayou Segnette State Park in WESTWEGO LA. It is just south of the Mississippi, and the campground will give you directions to a free ferry into New Orleans, Very nice park. Check with the park before going, because it may be closed due to damage from hurricane Issac.

    I want to drive my 32 foot motorhome frome Ashville, NC to Cleveland, Tn. on US74 with toad. I have heard it may not be suitable for motorhomes. Any advice? Also any camping along the way close to the route?
