Compartment Door Not Latching

Recommended Posts

Good Morning,

2004 Monaco Diplomat all of a sudden the battery compartment door will not latch.

I can't seem to find where and how to if possible to make an adjustment.

Anyone experience this and how did you fix it.

Thanks.

This is what your latch should look like. Check to make sure the latch is OK. Then check to make sure they move in and out when the handle is pulled.

Also check the ajustment on the catches fastened to the opening around the frame area and that the catches are tight and set so the latch can properly slide behind them and far enough to keep the door(s) closed.

The screws can loosen over time and the U shaped catches can move out of there proper orientation.

Rich.

Rich,

That is the latch and it appears as if maybe the latch is not catching behind the bar. I am heading back out now to fiddle with it I will check further to make sure it is lining up and also check the catch bar. Thanks for the info will ley you know how it turns out.

To piggyback: we've gotten into the habit of seating these latches with the handle pulled, eg not slamming the doors like you do in a car. That minimizes the wear on this nylon latch.
