1998 Dometic Comfort Control Unit

We have a 1998 National RV Tropical with two Dometic A/C units and one heater. The 4 button Comfort Control unit buttons work intermittantly and one button no longer works at all. Dometic no longer makes the older control unit. I remember there was and article in FMCA mag. about a relatively easy fix but don't remember details. Can anyone help.
