Several thing need to be asked. 1) Is your Explorer four wheel drive? 2) If not you would need a drive shaft disconnect. 3) If so, does it have a neutral position in your transfer case? 4) I don't know if the 96 Explorer had a neutral position or if you have to have the switch kit installed. If so yes you can tow it. I would suggest that you also install or add an auxiliary braking system of some sort. Have the Explorer wire for your lights to connect to the coach.
