1996 Ford Explorer For 4 Wheel Down Towing

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the Forum.

Several thing need to be asked.

1) Is your Explorer four wheel drive?

2) If not you would need a drive shaft disconnect.

3) If so, does it have a neutral position in your transfer case?

4) I don't know if the 96 Explorer had a neutral position or if you have to have the switch kit installed.

If so yes you can tow it. I would suggest that you also install or add an auxiliary braking system of some sort.

Have the Explorer wire for your lights to connect to the coach.

There are several different tow bars on the market as well as Aux. Braking systems.
