mtpizza Report post Posted January 6, 2013 My wife and I are planning a trip south on Hwy 385 to Amarillo, Tx via Rapid City, SD . We drive a 41' Travel Supreme Select pulling a auto on dolly. Just wondering if anyone has made that trip with a big rig and how the road is for such travel. Your reply and input are welcome. Thanks much. There is not much scenery but the road was good (mostly 2 lane) except for the short stretch across Oklahoma. Of course 385 runs along with 287 from Lamar, CO and we stayed with 287 on into Amarillo after the two divided again in Boise City, OK. Since we were going on to Lubbock, we should have stayed with 385 to avoid the trip through Amarillo. We were in our 40' Alfa towing our Jeep Liberty 4 down and had a comfortable trip.
