boachord Report post Posted June 25, 2013 I have a 2008 Beaver Contessa with 20,000 miles. The last outing, was driving it to and from the Allison Dealer where they serviced the transmission 3 weeks ago. I went to back the RV out of the shed this weekend. When I shift it in gear I can feel the trans. kick in to go forward or reverse but the drive wheels seems to be locked. Has this ever happen to anyone? How can I confirm if it is the parking brake or the brakes stuck on the rotors ? Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks, Bo
boachord Report post Posted June 26, 2013 I found out that the brakes pads were just rusty and were sticking to the rotor. I placed the coach in foward and reverse about 8 times and gave it a little throttle and they broke loose.
wolfe10 Report post Posted June 26, 2013 Yes, having brake pads or shoes "weld" themselves to the disks/drums is a reasonably common phenomenon-- particularly if stored right after driving in rain or storing in a very humid area. Gently going from D-N-R-N-D.... usually brakes it loose. Be sure to have a foot ready to step on the service brake as soon as it brakes loose.
