oscarpower Report post Posted November 1, 2013 Hello Everyone! We'll be going to White Sands next Monday 11/4/13 and have looked at a couple of campgrounds mentioned on the Good Sams book. Any recommendations? I researched the following: 1. Boot Hill - north of Alamogordo 2. Desert paradise - South of Alamogordo 3. White Sands RV - South of Alamogordo We also looked at the Oliver ST Pk, but there was only one site available and we need at least 2. Also, if you have any comments on what to see or not go to, in the area, it will be much appreciated! Thank you! wigginsjsr Report post Posted November 2, 2013 If you are going to White Sands Missle Range, it is much closer to Las Cruces. The White Sands National Monument is a little farther out, but still within easy driving distance of Las Cruces. There are many things to visit in and around Las Cruces along with a better choice of RV parks. I am assuming you will have a toad or truck. We visited this area in September. You don't want to miss a visit to the space port in Elephant Butte. Still within driving distance of LC.
oscarpower Report post Posted November 18, 2013 Hello Everyone!Back in Florida! We finally stayed at Boot Hill and it was very nice. We then went to Carlsbad Caverns and stayed at a Koa c/ground. Very spacious and friendly, even when we decided to stay one more day, they were 98% full but were able to accommodate us. Thank you for your comments.
