cndfmca Report post Posted December 7, 2013 I'm looking for the best roads to get to Groveland, Ca outside Yosemite Park. I have a 40 ft motorhome and pull a Saturn. We will be traveling from Rt 99 North to Oakdale then CA 120 to Groveland. However I've read in some of the directions that RVs should not use Priest Grade into Groveland via ca 120. That it is windy and not RV friendly. In a quandary of how to get to Groveland and to Yosemite Pines RV Park.
0 bobndorine2 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 We live in Groveland and we drive our diesel pusher towing an Explorer up and down #120 priest grade all the time....no problem. Make sure you stay on #120 (new priest grade) as some gps's send people up the old priest grade which is not suitable for any vehicle larger than a pickup. When coming up #99 we turn on to J59 at Merced which cuts off many miles and connects to #120/#108 just below Yosemite Junction where #120 turns to the right towards Groveland. Groveland has a park where you can park the motorhome and enjoy visiting the town which includes the Iron Door Saloon.....California's oldest continually operating saloon. Be sure to see the murial on the front of the building. You'll also enjoy learning about the Hetch Hetchy water and power project built by the city of San Francisco. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hetch_Hetchy
