Prescott, AZ to Bend, OR

Leaving Saturday.....trying to decide whether to go to Barstow then 395 up to Susanville Ca, or thru Las Vegas on 95 to Reno

then to 395.

I know I don't want to go all the way to 20.

I have been both ways and I would prefer the I-5 option. It is only 100 miles longer (1100-1200) but it's much easier and sure "feels" faster. 95 between Vegas and Reno is not my favorite. There are a couple of towns and some twists and turns. I don't know, I just don't much care for the drive. If I am going from Reno to Vegas (or vice versa) it's really the only choice but if neither are the destination I would make other plans. Now, if you want to visit Reno or the surrounding area, by all means take 95.

I have made the trip several times and I prefer Las Vegas up 95 towards Fallon then over towards Calif on 80 then 395 to Susanville then 139 to the Oregon border then 39 to 97 to Bend, Redmond. Relatively easy drive with not too much traffic.
