Wanaroo Report post Posted July 7, 2015 Is Highway 88 from Jackson, Calif., to South Lake Tahoe a safe route for a 38-foot Holiday Rambler towing a Chevy pickup? And then, what is the safest route onward to Carson City and Reno? Thanks.
0 ksteingrube Report post Posted July 7, 2015 If you go that way, keep your speed down as the Carson Spur is winding and an avalanche area during the winter. So you have steep cliff on one side and a drop-off on the other. We lived up country from Jackson for 13 years. It is a pretty drive; just don't be in a hurry. It is all two-lane with a few passing areas. Some of the road is steep and some is a long, slow pull. I don't see a problem.
0 bubbasid Report post Posted July 7, 2015 Hello. I have taken my family up to Silver Lake off highway 88 out of Jackson for so many years. Starting with tenting up to taking a 33-foot Prowler being towed by a 1989 F250. There are several places I had to shift to low gear, but all in all the trip is well worth it. If you need any tips on how to fish Silver Lake, let me know. We loved this area. Enjoy!
