sherriejessen Report post Posted August 23, 2015 Owners manual says transfer case in neutral and tranny in 2nd gear. Anybody know why 2nd gear when it is a 5 spd manual? It also has the Auto Free hubs, any issues their ? Not the manual lockout. Will it rack up towed odometer miles in the ACC unlock steering switch position for towing? Thanks for any input! Larry J. cmarq Report post Posted August 23, 2015 I had a 95 tracker 5 spd. it did rack up miles. I don't remember what gear tranny was in. It was a great toad but no AC upgrade to a 2001 tracker 4wd auto trans. Transfer case was in neutral and trans in park. That one did not rack up miles. kaypsmith Report post Posted August 23, 2015 I have a 91 Tracker, putting the tranny in 2nd is to keep the transmission from "freewheeling" spinning while being towed. Be absolutely sure the transfer case in in neutral before towing. Mine is auto and it does not rack up miles.
