My name is Gene and I am new at this RV activity. I live in the Sacramento area but I am visiting my sons on the East Coast. While in Bradenton Fl. I purchased a 39 foot 2004 Sahara Safari. On or about the 15th of this month I will start my adventure home. I will be leaving from Yulee Fl. This should be an interesting trip for me lol, wish me luck
.
I joined this club hoping it will teach me a few things along the way. I have been a boater for 30 years and joining a boat club was the key to a great life of boating.

I am a 69 year young single man that is not afraid to try something new and looking forward to getting started on my trip home. I plan on stopping at rest stops and Flying "J's" for rests each night.
So if anyone out there has any tips for me, I would love to hear from you. I will take advice from anyone experienced in the RV world. Man woman child, whatever, lol.

Gene

Your right behind us Gene. We just bought our first RV, a 37 foot 1999 diesel pusher, a little more than a month ago. We bought it in Salt Lake City, Utah, flew out and drove it across Wyoming and home to Texas right out of the box. We had a great time and a great experience. Hope you do as well.

I'm a former boat person myself and there are a lot of similarities between an RV and a boat for sure.

I'll watch for your postings. We too started a blog with this adventure. You can catch up with us at www.HwyLife.us

Good Luck and Great Travels!

Hello Gene,

Enjoy the RV lifestyle, no hurry, no worry, you are at home wherever you are... We have traveled in our RV's for the last 15 years, full time for 10 years. We just traveled from Oregon to Texas for the winter. Unless you have a good reason to go north, why not hang around in the southern US for the winter and enjoy the mild temperatures and the good times along the southern border. Whatever your interest you can find friends with similar interests somewhere along your voyage. Life is a banquet and most people are starving. Keep us posted on your travels.

Hello Gene...congrats on the Safari Sahara MH. It's a very nice choice!

I have a 2005 gas, class A that I picked up last year. I had a class C for many years and always wanted to move up to Class A. I'm retired and enjoy camping with wife/grandkids. Working on the RV is my new hobby, mostly upgrades...like LED lighting, LED TV's, suspension, wash/wax, etc.

I live in Roseville, CA (near SAC, like you). If interested, send me a message when you get back. We could have a beer/wine and talk RV's. I've learned a lot about MH's and saved a lot of money with DIY repairs.

Have a safe and enjoyable drive back to Calif.

Regards, Larry

Hello Gene, we like staying at the Flying J with a Dennys. We enjoy the meals weather it be Dinner or Breakfast. Their parking lot is away fom the major truck pumps so you can have a pleasent nights rest. This also allows you to fill up in the evening or morning before you leave. We live in Edgewater Florida and have been out west twice. Be sure to take time if you have time to spare to see America on your way home.

Safe Travels

If you have an interest in the natural wonders of the country you may want to get a Golden Age Passport. This gives you free admission wherever a fee is charged like entrance fees to National Parks, Monuments, Historic Sites, etc. It also lets you camp at these facilities and others like BLM lands, TVA and COE for 1/2 price. There's a one time fee, $10 last time I looked. You must be over 62. You have an adventure ahead of you for sure!
