Had to have emergency hand surgery and can only type with my left hand thus the late response. we will drive a super c asap but feel that unless the ride is to rough my wife thinks she will be more comfortable driving the super c, assuming it handles crosswinds much better. A tag would be nice but too big for our parking space and too much $$$. Thanks again. Robert

We currently have a 2014 Tiffin 33AA. My wife & I love the coach except for one concern. Crosswinds can sometimes make for an exhausting day of driving. We had Henderson's in Oregon add various suspension up grades which significantly helped but my wife will still drive only in light to no winds. I have developed some problems with my hands which makes it difficult to drive for more than a few hours. I have never driven a Super C but have been told that they are more like driving a large SUV and that unless winds are above 25 mph handling is not affected as much as it might be in a similar size Class A coach. Our two questions are: 1) How does a Super C handle/ride and 2) how maneuverable is it? Our couch is 35ft long and we can drive it down a slight hill and turn it around to back in our MH garage at home. We are currently looking at an Entegra Accolade which fits are price point. I worked with Bill Falkenborg at Borg Supply and determined the kit for the rear wheels is DL3FC. The hand holes on my 19.5 wheels measure 21/4 x 41/4. Also, he is making stems for the front wheels. He is very helpful and can be contacted at 818-352-8717. RJ

The main reason for my post was to avoid a long drive to the coach and not so much the cold weather. Also, I would think all 2008 Ford 19.5 wheels are most likely the same and would really like to have someones measurements to eventually compare to mine. But again thanks for the thought. RJ

Today I tried to order the Dually Valve Stems for our 2008 32LA Ford chassis and was asked the following questions. 1. What is your wheel size? 19.5" 2. What is your Inner and Outer wheel type? (Ex. I-Steel, O-Steel; or I-Steel, O-Aluminum; or I-Aluminum, O-Aluminum) 3. We need to determine the stabilizer shape and size. What is the shape and size of the hand holes on the wheel? (Not the simulator cover) Ex. Oval or Round Ex. 3" x 1-1/4" or 2" I had already told them the wheel size, 19.5, so not sure why they asked again. Hoping for some help with questions 2 & 3. The wind chill here is in the teens and I really don't want to get out of a warm home and drive to the coach to take these measurements. Just too cold for a Texan. Thought someone might have already done this so any help with questions 2 & 3 will be greatly appreciated. Thanks RJ 2008 Tiffin Allegro

We are getting ready to build a concrete pad on which to park our 33 ft Allegro, weight, 21,000 pound MH. I'm guessing that a 6-8 inch thickness should be sufficient but not sure if that is enough for the jacks. Also, to save some $, the pad will only be under the tire and jack area. I know there needs to be a moisture barrier and will place a thick rubber liner between the pad and the tires. Suggestions and comments appreciated. Thanks, RJ 2008 Allegro 32LA, Ford Scion Xd Toad

Brett, From our home in Weatherford it is 322 miles which is a little too far for us in one day. We will try and find a park near enough to Houston so we can time about a noon passage through Houston. We are not locked into Marina Bay and is expensive. Any suggestions. We looked at Galveston but didn't find much there and the wife thought the Kemah area and RV park looked interesting.

Thanks Brett. I called Marina Bay RV and they said the same thing. Not bad if we time it to go through Houston around noon. However this means we will probably try to stay outside of Houston and drive in the next day rather than making the trip in one day. Any suggestions on RV parks along I-45, say 75 miles or so out from Houston. Also, any knowledge about Marina Bay RV park? Thanks for your help, RJ

We will be going next week to the Marina Bay RV park in Kemah, TX (south of Houston), but really don't want to drive through Houston on I-45 but might not be too bad if we time it right. However, it looks like we can take I-45 and then go east by Pasadena on the outside loop, pickup I-45 again to Kemah, or come down through College Station, into the west side of Houston, getting on the W Sam Houston Tollway and then intersect with I-45 on into Kemah. My choice would be through College Station, avoiding I-45 but not sure if that would be the better route and also know that sometimes MH's pulling a toad can be hit with heavy tollway fees. Suggestions appreciated. RJ

I am planning to change the generator oil on our Onan 7000 (gas). It has approx 120 hours on it. The last change the shop used Onan 15W40 oil. I plan on using a major brand of oil, 15W40, but not Onan since I would have to drive about 40 miles from where I live to buy Onan oil. I do have an Onan filter which I will use. However, I am wondering if I should change to a synthetic or a synthetic blend. We don't use the generator much but I do follow Onan's recommendations and exercise the generator monthly. Since all has worked well so far I probably will stick with just the regular oil but will appreciate comments on changing to synthetic or a blend. Thanks, RJ

Last year we traveled from Fort Smith, AR to Checotah, OK on I-40 and then Checotah to Sherman, TX on Highway 69. The roads in places were so rough that our TV vibrated loose. Can anyone give an update on the current road conditions? Thanks, RJ

We are towing an 08 Scion XD behind our 08 Allegro and getting ready to replace the Scion's 195/60R/16 OEM tires. However, there seems to be limited tires in that size, so far the only one I’ve found is a Bridgestone Turanza, which I don’t want to use since it is the OEM and hasn’t done too well. There are other tires such as a 205/55/16, a 215/60/16, a 215/55/16 and a 225/50/16 which according to Discount Tire will fit the Scion. I guess these are considered to be low profile tires? My question is will using one of the optional tires adversely effect the angle of the tow bar or cause me any problems towing the car? Comments and thoughts appreciated. Thanks, RJ

I checked and yes the front tires are marked on the inside. I had them balanced months ago and don't know if they ever showed the markings on the outside of if during the balancing process the tires were mounted with the markings on the inside. They are 4207, same as the rear. An old dog learned a new trick. Thanks to all, Robert

I tried to determine when my 245/70/19.5 Goodyear tires were made. The rear indicate DOT 4207. Which I understand means they were made the 42nd month of 2007. I've looked and had my wife look and can not find any marking indicating the manufactured date on the two front tires. Unlike the rear tires there is no DOT marking or anything which looks like a manufactured date. The tires are Goodyear 670's and other than a lack of a DOT date they are the same as the rear. We know the coach was made in March 2008 and used a 2007 Ford chassis. What am I overlooking? Thanks, Robert

Thanks for the replies. Finally able to move the coach and get on the roof. Either squirrels or maybe a rat had chewed through both AC housings, nested in one, left 3 babies and in the process ripped out some of the wiring. Now I need to figure a way of covering the units with something that a squirrel can't chew through. Thanks again, RJ

Tireman, Most likely the tire failure was due to a nail which caused a slow leak while we were sitting for a week at the RV park. We've weighed twice and know we are not overloaded. We run 90 in the front and 87 in the rear which is below max inflation. Since the replacement tire was a G rated tire it seems best to go ahead and replace the other 5 with G rated tires. Went tire shopping yesterday and the shop I trust sells Bridgestones. The tread of the Bridgestone R250 looks, to me, the same as the GYs. The replacement GY only has 450 miles on it and will be on the rear with the new Bridgestones. I understand that the best case is to have all the same mfg tires on the same axle but is it really going to make a difference if the tires are the same size and close to the same tread if not the same? One other question. I've been doing my homework and have read post of "rivering" problems on GY tires. I have no idea what rivering is. Your thoughts and comments are appreciated. Thanks, RJ

We have a 2008 Allegro 32LA. Neither the front or rear AC units blow air. It sounds like the compressors come on but the fans don't start. When I place the control on fan only, they still don't blow any air. I've checked the breaker in the bedroom for both units and in the front bay directly in front of the door, there is a breaker (?) with a small button on the side which I've pushed in but still no luck. We have had some very cold temps. lately but the motor home is covered so I doubt that ice/snow could have gotten into the units. Prior to the extreme cold weather the heat pump worked find. Thanks for all the help. Today we are going to a Goodyear truck tire dealer in FWT and will most likely replace the remaining tires unless the inspector can assure that they are in very good shape. RJ

Wayne, Thanks for the suggestion. I probably will have the remaining tires inspected and make a decision then. DreamBelievers, this is what happened: Last fall we went from the Ft. Worth area to Port A. The last leg of the trip was only about 160 miles and according to our TPMS, no problems. Set up for 8 days and checked the tires before leaving. TPMS still showed no problems but I always check with a tire gauge too. Inside rear showed no pressure on the gauge. Thought it was low so decided to add air and see if it held overnight. Bad idea. While watching the compressor at about 40-50 PSI the tire blew. I've since learned that adding air to a tire that could be flat is really dangerous but still not sure what options one might have if on the road. Guess you just wait for the service truck. Anyway, no harm to me or the MH. So, I don't know when I started losing air. I sent the TPMS back and was told nothing wrong with that sensor. The service tech thought I picked up a nail but the tire blew on the side. After two blowouts on the 5th wheel we used to have I consider us extremely lucky that we were sitting in a nice RV park by the ocean for this one. I'm not overloaded and always check the tire pressure. I know going to a G rated tire won't prevent a blowout but I'm leaning towards replacing the F's with G's. We did enjoy an extra day at the beach this time but I doubt we would be that lucky should it happen again. RJ

Brett, Thanks. I understand the best call question. One last question. If I go with the G rated tire, the max load inflation is 110. Per the charts my weights put me at about 90 PSI on the front and 85 PSI on the rear. Since the G rated tire max load inflation is 110 but I only need 85-90 will I get a softer ride with the G's when only inflated to 85-90? Thanks again, RJ

Thanks! This really helps. I only have 450 miles on the new tire but I've decided not to take a chance and replace the other 5 now. It looks like there is no difference between the F & G rated tires, so does this mean that there won't be a change on how the spedo reads? Too much ice and snow on our Texas backyard so I can't check if G670RV's are on the MH. I want the best tire I can get but know very little about RV tires. Is there a better way to go than the G670? We recently had a tire blow (rear inside) when I was adding air, not a good experience. The replacement tire brought out by the service company is a 245/70R/19.5, G rated. It replaced the blown F rated tire. Our class A, 32ft, is a 2008 and has 13,000 miles. On another post I was advised that there shouldn’t be a problem running the new G rated tire next to the F rated tire but I should check the mfg. specifications and compare the two tires to make sure that they were compatible. I can’t find this information on Goodyear’s site. Any suggestions on where to look will be appreciated. I’ve lost faith in the Goodyear’s and wanted to replace the remaining 5 tires with Michelin’s but it seems from other posts that mixing different brands of tires is not a good idea. Since I just bought a very expensive Goodyear tire, I will stay with it but would like to move to G rated tires all around. I was going to wait until early summer but we have a short trip, 100 miles round trip, coming up in the next few weeks. I’ve also read that if one dual blows the other should be replaced too. I hate to buy 5 new tires, take one short trip and then not use the MH for 3-4 months. I would rather wait and buy the tires when we know we will be able to use the MH again. Your thoughts are appreciated. FYI, I’ve weighed twice and all within limits also have a TPMS which did not alert for low pressure. I have no idea how the tire lost pressure but the service tech thought it was caused be a nail but couldn't say for sure. I run 90 in the front and 86 in the rear. Thanks, RJ
