Looking for Recommendation for Chasis Work N.E. of San Antonio
elkhartjim replied to eric@babin.com's topic in Chassis
You couldn't make an appointment at Texas Custom Coach? -
The "practical difference" in a coach mounted vs car mounted towbar is strictly cosmetic. The coach mounted stays on the coach when disconnected and the toad mounted stays on the toad and in my opinion is just plain ugly hanging on the front end. Both Roadmaster and Blue Ox make good towbars and baseplates.

OH.....thats a lot of padding.

Dang, Carl, you going to completely gut it? $40k is a lot of remodeling.

Which is the best flat towing vehicle?
elkhartjim replied to rvhd's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I'm enjoying my GMC Canyon but I don't know that I'll ever part with my Wrangler. Its nice to have options. -
Come on children, stop this bickering.

Yep...but he keeps saying there is no inverter outlet behind his existing refrigerator. There has to be....

I'm with you on this Bill. If the icemaker continued to work when he was off the grid, the icemaker is getting power from somewhere.
-
Those are all relatively short climbs albeit they are a little steep. Carl and I are very familiar with the hill in Marble Falls. You just need to stop at the Bluebonnet Cafe during pie happy hour to make the climb easier.
-
PM'ed you about fires.

Why can't you connect to the outlet the ice maker used? It should be on the inverter.

We aren't all as smart as you....

Info Needed On Toad: Grand Cherokee?
elkhartjim replied to spearfish1@gmail.com's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
It will be interesting to see how the new Wrangler JL series tows. I believe it has the EPS system. -
Good to know. I hope it fixes your issue. I would still call Mangum and have them walk you through the complete set-up.

Another M&G supporter. I used it on a 2005 Wrangler, 2016 Wrangler and now a 2018 GMC Canyon. Like Joe, I wanted a fully proportional braking system.
-
I've done it a couple times in my last 38ft motorhome without any issues. The speed limit is 50mph and is enforced so don't be in any hurry. There are some low clearance bridges on some of the side roads to be aware of. The weekends are crowded with bicyclist.

Motorhome Parking At A NYC Airport
elkhartjim replied to funtimebiz's question in Destinations/Attractions
Wow...my lifelong dream may be possible. Imagine a round trip cruise to Chicago where you could lay on the beach and have drinks with little umbrellas brought to you by the locals. -
Hi, Lyle, you can also call the number on the drivers window 24/7 for assistance. Let us know what you find out please.

It does rotate, moves up and down, and you may need to get a shorter elbow.

Herman, measure twice and cut once can apply to editing a topic. 🤷♂️ -
Hang on guys. I don't have a connection in the rear of my coach to supply air from a wrecker but I do have a air supply on the rear of my coach to supply air to my M&G braking system on my toad. I would not remove the Air Force 1 system, if that is in fact what it is, but I would check it for air leaks because you may eventually want to tow four down and need the air supply.
-
AirForce 1 braking system has an auxiliary air tank for the toad.

How do they define "a qualified repair center"?
