  1. OP signed up May 2, made two posts and has not signed in again. Unfortunately, this is becoming more and more common for this forum. I wonder why? Any ideas?
  2. Bizsmith, I think they are suggesting backing the toad only, not the motorhome. I always back my Wrangler to lock at least one arm, turn the toad steering wheel about a 1/4 turn in the direction of the unlocked arm and when I pull the motorhome forward the unlocked arm will quickly lock. This is the information provided by a Blue Ox customer service rep when I bought my Blue Ox tow bar.
  3. Use the 50 amp and sell or give away the 30 amp. Keep the 30amp to 50 amp adapter for when you only have 30 amp available. Call Progressive Industries customer for verification - 919-462-8280
  4. Do you also have an oven? If so, will it light? This is the link for service http://www.rvcomfort.com/suburban/service/repairs.php
  5. I installed mine. I removed the power cable from the transfer switch, decided the best location to permanently mount the unit, cut the correct length of cable from the power cable that would be used to go from the unit to the transfer switch, completed the wiring between the unit and the transfer switch and connected the power cord to the unit before I attached the unit to the service bay wall. I found it much easier to work with the heavy gauge wire outside the bay. Installation time was less than an hour. My point is, anyone with some wiring experience can do the install. If you are near me, north of Houston, I would be happy to help you install it. BTW...in my opinion, you made a great choice purchasing the Progressive Industries unit.
  6. I didn't know a gas pusher was ever made, but here is a FMCA write-up. http://www.fmcmagazine.com/back-issues/2007/november/6288-winnebago-destination-37g
  7. 20% full sounds wonderful, unless they park the 20% all together. On a recent 5 week 3000 mi trip, most of the campgrounds were near capacity. I guess I'm not sure what a "camping club" is. Are you referring to something like Thousand Trails or Escapees?
  8. "I am having one made-- if it looks good, may start a cottage industry!" Just remember your less fortunate friends and those of us not smart enough to think of things like hula hoops.
  9. I've never had therefore never used a car in tow sign and I can't remember seeing one after driving 50,000+ the last 8 years. Never thought much about it and I assume its not a legal requirement. I'm interested to hear others experience.
  10. I use the Watts Lead Free Adjustable 263A-LF Regulator because it has the higher flow rate of 4 - 4.5 gpm vs 2 - 2.5 gpm. As Bill stated, if the campground pressure is 50 psi and my regulator is set for 60 psi, I will only have 50 psi available. I guess the OP moved on...again. I hope he found his answer. http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/PressureRegulators.htm

  12. Gordon, By chance were your tires manufactured by Goodyear? There have been issues with front tires wearing like you're describing - rivering. It has nothing to do with alignment or balancing.
  13. Its the added features I like with the Progressive Industries. It, Progressive Industries, doesn't give a caution light, it will not allow power to the coach if there is an open ground, open neutral or reverse polarity. There is a time delay for the air conditioners re-starting if there is a power blip. Huge added features as far as I'm concerned. If there should ever be a computer failure, there is a jumper wire so you can get service while PI overnights you a new board at no cost. They truly have a Lifetime Waranty. Its available at Tweety's for less than $200 and it doesn't hum.
  14. I highly recommend buying a product not ony for surge protection but also power (voltage and wiring) protection. I installed the EMS-LCHW50 hardwired unit manufactured by Progressive Industries in my power basement upstream of the transfer switch. It has saved me numerous times from high voltage, low voltage and wiring issues. http://www.progressiveindustries.net/ http://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems_lchw50.htm
  15. This is the one I used. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Water-Worker-2-gal-Pressurized-Well-Tank-HT2B/202846475?N=5yc1vZbudt#specifications
  16. Are you concerned with pressure or flow? I bought my regulator from the RV Water Filter Store several years ago and I regulate the pressure to 60#. http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/PressureRegulators.htm Edit: To answer your question, I doubt there is a built -n regulator but I would think if you call Tiffin or join the Tiffin RV Forum you can get a quick answer. http://www.tiffinrvnetwork.com/
  17. I understand the frustration of not being abe to collect on what you believe to be a ligitimate claim but understand if a class action suit is filed and some years later resolved in your favor, you will receive pennies on the dollar. Unknowingly, I was in a multi-million dollar class action and when it was all said and done I lost the check before I ever cashed it. I seem to remember it was for $0.17. I'm confident the attorneys share was much greater .
  18. I hope you get it started without a great expense and I know this is kind of like closing the barn door after the horses get out; all generator manufacturers recommend starting and runnig the genset for at least 30 minutes under at least 50% load monthly. That eliminates this problem along with helping the armature, etc function when needed.
  19. According to a FMCA Thousand Trails Chapter member, this couple had only recently joined their chapter. http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/courier/news/man-allegedly-shoots-wife-takes-own-life-at-thousand-trails/article_3a0ce5f4-15ac-5a96-818c-28b4b89a9b05.html
  20. I shift into 6th according to the shiftpad around 58mph. According to Mike Cody, the Camp Freightliner guru, thats the correct speed for my engine/transmission.
  21. I drive with the Allison in Economy Mode, red light on on the shift pad, unless I'm mountain driving. Find the speed/RPM sweet spot. With my Cummins 325HP ISB, 1800-1900 rpm's equates to 62-64mph and thats where I drive. I recently returned from a 4000 mile trip from the Houston area to Las Vegas towing a 4000# Jeep Wrangler. I had many miles of 20-35mph head winds and or crosswinds. One day I had a 15mph tailwind. Mileage for the trip was 9.1mpg. I have gotten as high as 9.8 and I don't want to talk about the lowest...eek! I don't notice much difference in mileage towing or not plus I wouldn't be without a toad at my stops.
  22. I understand, Herman. My problem would be if I'm in Timbucctoo and need a shop, how would I ever wade through hundreds if not thousands of posts to find a shop in that area and I couldn't possibly keep years of FMCA magazines with me for reference or spends weeks thumbing through them. I see some of the FMCA commercial members listed on this website and in the magazine that I would not want touching my motorhome. Interestlingy, ACC Warranty Group is the very first one listed in the commercial members area and there was a recent thread discussing how poorly they were at handling claims. In my opinion, just because you pay to advertise with a group, organization, etc, doesn't mean your good, reputable, etc. I don't necessarily agree its free advertising for the shops that you and Rich recommended, just good information. Now it would be completely different if a shop is touting itself as being good. I seriously doubt if I'm through Dallas or upsate New York next year (or next month) and needed service would I ever remember who or where or if a recommendation was ever made. It was just a suggestion for an added benefit of being a member of FMCA. Thanks for your response,Herman.
